Is The Bush 'Firewall' Collapsing? Rove resigns, Gonzo resigns...
...the list of WH officials resigning grows longer as Cheney's influence grows stronger.

Patraeus is going to report it will take 10 YEARS to pacify Iraq.

Information on illegal warrantless wiretapping is leaking out.

Are we watching this Administration slowly implode?

2. Yes. Impeachment Soon.
Now that they smell blood, I think the Republicans will finally do the right thing and impeach Bush.

I'm serious.

14. The hammer was coming down on Gonzo, he was not let go 'willingly'....
There is so much evidence of Gonzo wrongdoing, and it was about to be revealed in a very public way, this was the last play the WH had regarding Gonzo.

But just look at all the vacancies at the WH -- amazing.

And look who is still there, wielding even more power as result --- Cheney.

15. I think Rove is still in charge. Just because he won't be in the WH every day
doesn't mean that he will not be directing Bush**.

16. We are watching 'crisis management' in the WH, and that is what scares me....
Bush has always been the 'go with the gut, forget reality decider.'

Instead of pulling back and defending turf, I think this is just the momentary lull before Bush takes some absolutely rash action that puts our country at even more peril.

Don't underestimate the boldness of an idiot.

17. Bush Needed Gonzales to Protect Him
The conventional wisdom was that Bush needed Gonzales as AG, because any other person in the job would not have been as protective of Bush and Rove. Gonzales knew where the skeletons were buried. The word "firewall" is very accurate.

My question is: was Gonzo as dumb and confused as he appeared in the hearings, or was that an act?

18. His performance was bad
and he was not protecting the president efficiently. Passing the new spying powers law was likely done in the full knowledge that Gonzo would not be the one there when it comes up for reconsideration. Someone will be put in who would more likely to succeed in consoldiating the most important gains while taking the heat off the WH.

For Iran or the elections they don't need Gates or the AG but possibly place setters to hold off the Dems as they devoutly wish to be held off- until election day. They won't collapse in a fit of tremors, they must be relentlessly pressed, pursued, held to account. Bush is still holding the upper hand if only by illusion, yet he can start a new war and cripple democracy while his whole kleptocracy continues getting worse, bolder by spite and impunity.

19. Yes they're collapsing
We're winning the war with these bastards, they're hemorrhaging from main arteries. It won't be long before we see complete and total collapse, like dominoes when they start to go there's no stopping them.

21. I expect the next nominee to say he knows nothing, will get back to them with what he finds...
Any nominee is going to plead ignorance of any kind of wrongdoing in the DOJ, and aks for time to investigate.

Let's hope there are no more resignations or anything else "divisive" so we can keep our powder dry.
