If Gonzales' replacement has to be a Republican, I suppose I'd prefer John Danforth. After Danforth -- who's no great prize generally -- there's a real sharp drop-off.

when he bald faced lied about the Arkansas Project. He stands absolutely no chance of being confirmed. Bush could slip him in today as a recess appointment, but I don't know if they make anything that would repel the solar-like heat that Bush would have to take.
