RC: Thinks GONZO rsigning is a BAD THING? |
|
I do. It is winning a battle for a hill that has nothing to do with the war. He was about to have to answer some very hard questions. Ones that he had NO ANSWER FOR. Ones that would have implicted the Bush crime family in illegal acts.
Now we will have to start all over again. With a AG that is thrice removed for those acts. And there is not time to get the next guy to the point that Gonzo was in the process.

1. He would never ever ever ever |

have answered wurdyiond implicating bushco, and in case you didn't notice, he's quite capable of lying and dodging questions he has no answer for. Gonzo was a firewall for bushco, perhaps even the keystone. Not to mention that every day the little fucker stayed he did more damage.
couldn't disagree more completely.

4. Firewalls are never torn down; they are replaced by something more secure |

I don't think we can say whether or not this is a good thing, but I have a very bad feeling about it.

What do you think happened with Nixon?
It would be nigh on impossible to replace Gonzo with someone more secure.

2. His resignation doesn't shield him from testifying. It actually should strip him |
|
of any claim of executive privilege.
One thing we have to ask ourselves.... with all the high level resignations lately, do you think they have some inside info that Bush is fixing to issue a blanket pardon to them all, just like Poppy did?

The problem is the questioning was going nowhere anyway. Congress will still go after him now that he is not in office. I can understand why you think it's a bad thing, but I don't agree completely. My question is, why did he resign now? I think that it is a ploy to get the democrats to focus on him instead of focusing on the hill itself. I kinda see it as throwing meat to the dogs in order to get away with as little harm as possible.
Not that we shouldn't go after him...but I think they realized that now that the allegations were on him he was no longer of use to them. He couldn't go get a bite to eat at a local diner without someone breathing down his neck. NOW he is no longer in office, so I am worried about who's next. The Bush Administration has something coming down the pike...I think anyway.

7. Some people are never happy |

Of course, it's not a bad thing. Sheesh. OK, let me rephrase that, compared to him staying in office, it's not a bad thing. It's good to not have Gonzo as the attorney general. Sure there are the difficulties you speak of, but so what? There are always difficulties.
