Would Bush appoint Lieberman AG? |
|
That would put the Democrats in a pickle. They would get rid of Lieberman, but lose control of the senate (the governor of CT, a repub, would probably appoint a repub replacement). Would Lieberman get approved?

3. They wouldn't lose control of the Senate because the rules were |

changed, but Shrub won't nominate Lieberman anyway. Joe can't take the pressure! I can see him litteraly in tears, sobbing before a Senate hearing!

lieberman take it if offerred. A 16 month post in an embattled admin when he has 5 years plus left to serve in his term? Which would you choose?
Stop worrying. At least about this.

He is probably one of the few people that could actually get confirmed. While the democrats may technically remain in control of the senate, losing Lieberman would make it even more difficult to pass anything.
Besides, will Joe ever be able to get reelected?

14. Sorry, that's just ridiculous |
|
Joe has more than 5 years left as a very powerful Senator. NO. WAY. ON. EARTH. IS. HE. GONNA. ACCEPT.
It's one of the worst jobs in the Country at this point.
And no he won't be able to get re-elected but 5 years as a powerful Senator trumps 15 months as a hobbled AG anyday.

5. Would it be worth it to Lieberman? |

Who would lose his seat and probably not retain the job in the next admin. (whoever it is)

6. I suspect Lieberman is not trusted by the Bushies any more than we do. |
|
And I believe Dems control the Senate through 2008 regardless of any caucus/affiliation swings.

8. What would be in it for him (Bush)? |
|
He's already got his handy pocket poodle all set to bark at his command, while undermining any Democratic efforts in the Senate.
Why would he want to change that?
He doesn't do rewards when there's nothing in it for him. This is the quintessential selfish person we're dealing with here.

10. why would lieberman take the job? |
|
He has virtually no experience as a lawyer -- three years in private practice after graduating law school 40 years ago. The AG's position is a short-term position -- it ends with chimpy's term, just over a year from now. Plus, for all of his faults, and they are too numerous to list, Lieberman's position on certain issues, such as gun control and abortion, while soft at times, are still too moderate for chimpy's administration.

12. Joe Lieberman was CT's AG from 82-88. |
|
"From 1982 to 1988, he served as Connecticut's 21st Attorney General and emphasized consumer protection and environmental enforcement." That is why he might get the nod. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Lieberman

13. thanks. didn't realize that. |
|
Still doubt he'd be the one, since he'd be giving up four more years in the Senate for a pretty pointless job for less than a year and a half. More likely it would be a repub Senator who is planning on retiring anyway. (The fact that while CT AG he emphasized consumer protection and envirnomental enforcement isn't going to endear him to repubs either).
