So Rove resigned. Gonzo resigned. Big effen deal!!!! |
|
I still want to see Impeachment! Resigning from public service does not ensure all is forgiven or forgotten while they were "serving".
Somehow, some way, the Democrats need to be pushed HARD to live up to their sworn oaths to the Constitution and MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE!!!

1. "So the rats are jumping off the ship. Big deal. |

I wanna see the ship sink."
Patience, my little friend, patience.
Global warming or no, it's iceberg season for the Ship of State.

2. This absolutely should not be the end of gonzo's punishment |
|
He should be punished for his contempt of Congress / his contempt of the American people. That Patriot Act needs to be repealed. The 'executive order's that * adds after bill signings, per gonzo's advice should be repealed. He should pay for bringing American democracy to it's knees. and he should be banned from ever giving this lousy administration any further advice or communication.

...or forgotten while they were "serving". In Busco World it does, don't you agree?

9. No, don't agree at all |
|
And particularly with Rove and Gonzo. They are getting a kiss on the lips with kudos from Bush as they're leaving. And I just don't see either of them writing a tell-all book that criticizes or exposes Bush/Cheney.
Instead, they're now completely free to put their fingers into 2008 doing what they know how to do...get Cons elected while demonizing Liberals/Democrats.

4. I imagine if we impeach people will complain that it's not about the right issue? |
|
I will celebrate any success we have from gaining the role of overseers. That said, nothing wrong with encouraging Democrats to impeach.

8. I'll celebrate, too. Just not confident that they'll keep hammering |
|
away at it. Bush already gave the marching orders to the sycophants for any action that Democrats try to take: "...good name dragged through the mud...political theatre/gains...partisanship"
Oversight is Constitutionally required but action is needed to ensure precedent doesn't result.

As sweet as it is to see them gone, without impeachment THEY CAN COME BACK. Like the evil dead in a bad horror movie, they will return to serve the dark forces again.
IMPEACHMENT MEANS THEY CAN NOT TAKE FEDERAL OFFICE AGAIN. EVER.
(My apologies for yelling.)

7. It's even worse than that though. No action sets precedent |
|
Clearly, Cons would never stand for the likes of what has been done if it were a Democrat in the WH. Frankly, I don't think Democrats would stand for it from a Democrat either...and there's the rub. If a Democrat wins in 2008 and continues with any of this behavior using precedent, we're in for a hell of a ride that lasts one term (thankfully). But if a Con wins in 2008, we're in for an even worse ride as they continue and push even further the precedents set by this administration.
No apologies necessary, BTW.

12. Unless indicted/convicted, Rove will be back. Gonzo, I doubt it. |
|
I suspect that all we'll see of Gonzo is a few more appearances before congressional committees; after that, he'll be out of the public eye because he's radioactive.
You can count on Rove not going away, however.
