NO RECESS APPOINTMENT FOR A.G.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/27/gonzales/index.html

"Yesterday I met with President Bush and informed him of my decision to conclude my government services as Attorney General of the United States effective September 17."

There will be no vacancy during the recess of the Senate.

Senate will get to review the new A.G.

Reid will get to send the list of suggested candidates to Bush. Bush will put that in the circular file.

Fitzgerald anyone?

3. Also James Comey. Either Comey or Fitzgerald would be fine nominees, imho.

But we all know that Bush will NEVER do the honorable thing. Never.

5. So what happens if Bush and the Senate can't agree on a nominee?
And who's in command in the meantime?

6. They will have a Federalist Society Interim AG....So...
expect Bush to send up a series of unacceptable AG nominees. That keeps Leahy busy and allows the interim pick to stay in place.

Interim AG Paul D. Clement:
