Nostalgia Time-- The AG was Bush's first Nose-Thumb to the US |

A little walk down memory lane in light of today's news....
How many recall the brief period of "healing bipartisanship" that supposedly existed in the weeks between the Selection of GW in 2000 and his inaguration?
Bush promised to "heal" the sharp polarization that had developed during the months when the election was being contested.
So what did Bush do to mend fences? One of this first acts as president elect was to nominate one of the most polarizing politicians of the time for attorney general -- former Sen. John Ashcroft.
That pretty much put the nail in the coffin of any claims to be a "uniter not a divider."
Now that his political fortunes have reversed, it's interesting to see that the latest unraveling of his presidency also involves his choice for attorney general.
