Why the big deal about Dunkin' Donuts eliminating some trans fats? Here's why. |
|
In case you've been away from the tv today, all the news stations are trumpeting Dunkin' Donuts elimination of trans fats from their menu. Has anyone questioned why this is a NEWS story on ALL the major Cabal News Networks?
Oh, and it's MOST trans fats, not all. They don't claim to be eliminating them. Just that they developed a way to eliminate MOST trans fats in their cooking oils.
Anyway, back to the whys and wherefores; do you know who owns Dunkin' Donuts? The super-secret creepy holding group/investment/defense industry sweety The Carlyle Group, on whose board George H. W. Bush holds a prominent seat.
In case you still think the media and the industrial/defense/media machine aren't totally in cahoots, ask yourself WHY such a ho-hum press release has received such prominent media attention. After all, even Doritos and fried pig noses went "trans-fat free" months ago, and we didn't hear about it from the Cabal News anc-whores. So what's the big deal?
Can you say "Poppy?" Sure you can.
And if you STILL insist upon purchasing Dunkin' Donuts coffee or deep fried artery cloggers, remember this one thing...Your Dunkin' Donuts purchases help fund the Iraq war. Stay away. Far away. And while you're at it, skip Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, too. Also purchased by GHW Bush's Carlyle Group in the same transaction.

I've heard that some of the trans-fat substitutes are, in their own way, just as unhealthy for you. Stick to olive oil and butter in moderation, my MD says.

I am a person with PAD and my cholesterol numbers are right where the doctors wants yours to be, how does that work if they know what they're talking about concerning cholesterol. its all a big scam if you ask me, and for the reasons I just stated
edit to add: My doc just shakes his head and walks out of the room when I ask about that too

Well, yeah.
But so does everything we buy that incurs a tax anywhere between production and purchase, does it not?

Do you buy your groceries from the Defense Department? Do you fix your car at the Pentagon?
Carlyle Group OWNS Dunkin' Donuts. The profits from DD go to the war machine. The taxes on your other purchases -- even the DD purchases -- go to schools, highways, education, etc. But Dunkin' Donuts is OWNED by Carlyle Group. A bit more of a direct path, imho.
You're a Dunky drinker, aren't you? Find a local mom & pop coffee shop, or even Starbucks...at least they give bennies to their employees and are a generally decent company.

I also don't dispute your point about the Carlyle group, but I'm frankly a little surprised; why would they spend their own profits on Iraq when it would seem (IMO) so much more cost-effective to dump other people's money (eg., taxes) into that quagmire?

20. They don't SPEND their profits in Iraq...they "invest" them. |
|

They're involved in everything from the massive embassy building to the weapons manufacture. Everything. Every time a bullet is fired and a roadside bomb blows up some of our soldiers, there is a Carlyle Group company who will make a profit replacing it. Now, I don't know for certain, but I'll take a guess at who the official coffee and ice cream vendors are at the Baghdad px. Do you know that we're charging our soldiers for everything now, including doing their laundry? Privatization. Just sayin'.

IMO that's even worse than our-donuts-pay-for-the-war-in-Iraq.
In fact, our donuts pay for war profiteering in Iraq, which is at least as sick and exploitive.

Look it up. Google it. Go to the library. Wander the streets. Whatever. There is no "crackpot conspiracy theory" here. It was a publicized a year or two ago when the transaction went through, albeit quietly. So you're a doubter...fine. Good and healthy. But educate yourself. Because it ain't now "theory," it's just FACT. Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins are directly owned by the Carlyle Group.

We can always count on DUers to steer us straight as far as evil people owning stuff. I can't honestly remember the last time I was in a Dunkin' Donuts or even ate one. I'm not even sure we have any around here. But we do have Baskin Robbins and I eat Whitey's Ice Cream which is locally owned, and Ben and Jerry's for the national brand. Will avoid Baskin Robbins and Dunkin' Donuts for sure now. There are many locally owned businesses I would rather spend my money at anyway.

|
The fat/tall portion of the lid is the drinking vent. It's off to the side...nowhere near where'd you actually drink from the cup if you were holding it the way he is holding it in this pic. Good catch.

Not only is DD's coffee TERRIBLE (your own preference for muddy bilgewater notwithstanding), there are probably other diners or Mom & Pops in your town who will sell you a fresh brewed cup of Joe for about a buck -- a buck less than a cup of Dunky's. And it's real, and the money goes into your local economy, not back to Kennebunkport or Iraq.
There are a lot of personal preferences to be passionate about -- Will Ferrell movies, stick shifts, Garfield -- but coffee is a commodity. You can get it ANYWHERE, and usually for half the price of the chains. Even the non-defense-industry-related chains. So why the passion for Dunkin' Donut's coffee? I don't get it. Just ask your local diner to add half a cup of dishwater, seven tablespoons of sugar and a cup of cream to the 1/4 cup of actual coffee they serve you...you'll feel right at home.

When it good, it's great. When it's bad, it's still pretty good.
:hi:
But Dunky's coffee is always bad.
I drove three hours from Cape Cod last night, desperately in need/want of a cup of coffee. As I left, I drove by literally a dozen, if not more, DD's before I stopped at a local country store type place for a cup of real coffee. I won't stop at DD's even to piss.

Some how I got the notion that the Iraq War was funded with my income tax dollars. How silly of me to think that the Aperican people were paying for the war. I should have realized long ago that the Carlye group business plan included sinking multiple billions of dollars into a lost war.
