That's what Bush claims.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/27/washington/27cnd-gonzales.html?ex=1203825600&en=3ba463b8460107e7&ei=5087&excamp=GGGNgonzalesbush

"“It’s sad,” Mr. Bush said, asserting that Mr. Gonzales’s name had been “dragged through the mud for political reasons.”"

Here's a sample of when Republicans questioned Gonzales' character:

17 march 2007 - John Sununu calls on Gonzales to resign.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=8922944

26 mar 2007 - 3 Republican Senators voice fresh concerns about Gonzales.

http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F6081FFD39540C758EDDAA0894DF404482

17 May 2007 - Republican Arlen Specter calls the DOJ "close to being dysfunctional, with an attorney General who is unable to perform the duties"

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/05/17/fired.prosecutors/index.html

15 mar 2007 - Republican Gordon Smith of Oregon calls for Gonzales resignation, Republican Norm Coleman says he is "deeply concerned about how (firing the attorneys) was handled"

Oh well, another day, another lie from Bush, another attempt to blame Democrats and politics.

8. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Alberto was a great guy. So it must be true!
She also said that Larry Craig was misunderstood.

3. Yes. The party offended was the United States Constitution.
Gonzales was attacked by all those Bill of Rights fanatics who think it's wrong to destroy the foundation of our civil liberties. Damn those partisans.

the Constitution has been dragged through the mud for partisan politics.

Here's the pattern, if you haven't figured it out by now:

GOP: Bully, provoke, provoke, provoke

DNC: Fight back with rhetoric

GOP: Ignore

DNC: Start to take action (or not)

GOP: Retreat & Paint themselves as a victim.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

12. in one sense though, taking Gonzales out was bi-partisan
That some Republicans will either draw the line somewhere or bow to pressure from their constituents. Now if more of them can be pressured to impeach Cheney, or appoint a special prosecutor...

If the USA were a Parliamentary System he might have lasted a week before he was kicked out of Govt.

17. I don't know why Bush even bothers anymore.
The vast majority of Americans knows that anytime he opens his mouth, lies are being told.

Practically no one cares what this evil bastard has to say anymore.
