My Theory: Dubya listening to Poppy reason Gonzo is gone
My apologies if this is theory posted by others before me. My theory is that Rove and Gonzo left because Lord Pissypants is listening to his father's advice. My evidence (thin at best, I know):

1) This is Dubya's pattern; get in trouble and ask Dad to bail him out.

2) Poppy fired Rove, not much love lost there.

3) Poppy realizes the trouble Dubya is in, unlike bubble-boy himself (who can't figure out Winter is coming).

If I am right, I think Cheney will be the next to resign. Cheney's running the presidency, and two people being president (Poppy and Cheney) just won't do.

Just my opinion.

1. If he's listening to Poppy, it means he has really just given up.
Now we have to watch the Big Dick twice as carefully. . (satan abhors a vacuum, or something...)

2. Shows you're really thinking
about it! I haven't a clue..somebody musta told frat boy that gonzales made him look more stupid than usual and the chimp gave up his stubborn hold on his long time lawyer who knows where more than a few skeletons are buried.

3. Me, too ...
I've believed for a long time that Poppy 1) mistrusts Rove, 2) doesn't approve of Cheney's circumvention of the CIA in creating his own intelligence gathering outlet, 3) Blames Cheney for the destruction of the CIA's Brewster-Jennings WMD monitoring, and 4) Needs to see whatever's left of his family's legacy remain intact. He's done whatever he has had to do in the past, and I don't doubt for a second that he lacks the power and influence to induce punishment and steer power centers. As you said about Dubya: "That's his pattern".

7. They are probably thinking, "If we can just get JEB in the
White House, he'll fix W's mistakes." God, how awful would that be, to have another Bush* ruining things.

I think the OP'er mght be on to something, though, but I don't think W can get rid of Cheney.

8. No kidding ...
And the most important distinction that I draw is that the Bush family is entrenched in global intelligence, global corporate business, and a century's worth of apparent secrecy.

Cheney is just a greedy corporatist. It must really peeve GHWB that he's running the show and doing it so blatantly. He must be saying to Babs, "We never took these kinds of chances and now Cheney's going to expose us ..."

5. Nope. The pressure was applied by the dems
subpoenas and hearings wore him down. He hoped by getting rid of rove and gonzo to quench the scandals.

9. Does Bush have another gigantic "pretzel" bruise on his eye socket
If that's the case, then we know he's still getting Poppy's opinions.

10. My theories: Gonzo HAD to gone-zo because either
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 09:34 PM by rocknation
1) The Dems were closing in, and he couldn't be protected any longer;

2) He was going to be dumped anyway and the Vick "confession" provided the perfect media cover;

3) None of Bush's cronies has REALLY left--they're just running things from behind the scenes now;

3) Georgie is determined to prove he can run things himself;

4) Cheney has decided to drop the pretense and actually run things himself.
