Gonzo.. Why now?..
Every move they make is calculated. So why does Gonzo do the bird now? The shit has already hit the fan, the damage has been done. Gonzo, Snow, Rove. Why now. I don't think it has to do with investigations. Every fucking question is answered by "I don't recall", or by claiming that they're not going to answer, executive privelage, or some kind of shit like that.

Is this *purely* political. Gonzo gone and the repukes don't have to defend him. Why Rove and Snow? What's going on?

15. I heard today that this is the slowest news week fo the year
traditionally, at least in terms of viewers. I think they thought if they announced it now, no one would notice. It makes as much sense as anything else they have done.

3. I am beginning to believe that the White House knew about the Craig arrest and timed it well.
Sorry to put on the tin-foil.

5. I think Congress may have the goods on them
Gonzales richly deserves impeachment and removal, but that is now a moot point.

If they have it on Gonzo, they have it on Rove.

Snow is the one who doesn't belong here. His resignation could be prompted by ill health. Nobody can dispute that his ill health is a fact.

10. Yes, and that may be true as well
In any case, Snow's reasons are personal. The only way he's wrapped up in this shit is having dutifully to tell the press what the liars tell him. Since Snow once anchored a program on FoxNews, he's got plenty of experience reporting lies and distortion as if they were facts.

The fact that Snow resigned now is no reasons to bring suspicion on him.

13. it's enough for me to question my position on slavery
I don't think either of them should get ANY vacation. Same goes for Olbermann and Maher. Don't they know they have a higher duty? To remind me I'm not alone here in red state hell?

7. Did you hear Turley on with Dan Abrams tonight?
He made a guess that the Inspector General was investigeting possible Gonso wrongdoings, and he could see a scenario where the IG went to Gonzo and said "I think we have a few problems here". THAT well could be the reason for Gonzo's leaving NOW before there were additional BIG problems. That's the first and only time I heard that, but I do remember either Conyers or Leahey sending a letter to the IG to investigate!!!!

14. will gonzo's exit "stage right" stop investigations? and other questions
and would this effect future document requests or testimony?

could the cloak of executive priviledge cover him once he has left the building?

was his resignation part of some deal with the white house to avoid contempt charges or more investigations regarding attorney firings? Or was it pressure from the republic party heads in an effort to save members up for
re(s)election?

We all know the leaving because his name was dragged in the mud is a load of crap. There's more behind the resignation than just a muddy name.

16. I suspect
I suspect there is more here than meets the eye. This might be a form of heavy cover or smoke to obfuscate something else going on right under our nose. These criminals would do anything.

I agree...

taking a fish in exchange for letting a big whale go free? (think cheney)

and what's up with the white house ghost written Patraeus report on the surge? Originally we were told September, then it was pushed into Nov/december, and now it's back to September? Was this moved back to september to provide smoke, divert attention from hearings and onto debate over is the surge working or not?

the bushies don't do anything without a political angle to it...and in one way or another - everything is connected

18. In Gonzo's case, because the scandal has subsided.
Had he resigned right after his last round of testimony, it would be seen as a huge victory for us. Doing it this way softens the blow significantly in terms of the news cycle.
