Bush: "I have authorized our military commanders in Iraq to confront Tehran's murderous activities."

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/08/20070828-2.html

President Bush Addresses the 89th Annual National Convention of the American Legion
Reno-Sparks Convention Center

Reno, Nevada

<snip>

Some say Iran's leaders are not aware of what members of their own regime are doing. Others say Iran's leaders are actively seeking to provoke the West. Either way, they cannot escape responsibility for aiding attacks against coalition forces and the murder of innocent Iraqis. The Iranian regime must halt these actions. And until it does, I will take actions necessary to protect our troops. I have authorized our military commanders in Iraq to confront Tehran's murderous activities. (Applause.)

14. In fact, this "story" is actually quite old. The hype is new. My question
is why wouldn't Bush hype his new war?

5. That's an ominous phrase.
Very ominous.

I have heard the theory that he wants to force the next president to continue his policies by getting us so deep in the middle east we can't back out.

We have now had the "Tyrants may be overthrown by anyone at any time" theory out there in plain daylight.

And guess what!! It is this leader of the "Free World" who has been responsible for more tyranny than anyone else in the lasst one hundred years.

So according to the "Tyrannus Absolut Abolishment" theory - he should be next. And our country along with him.

38. How exactly does the world stop us
militarily? Economically they can but they hurt themselves as well. China cripples itself if the US economy dies......I ask because given the state of most non US militaries, it is impossible for them to Project power in any appreciable form and actually do military damage to the US. However the US has global reach and a mortally wounded America could do damage to the rest of the world that would be permanent. So that is why the rest of the world will never attack us, we are still the only country to use Atomic weapons against another country.......

30. The Cambodia analogy is right on...
..Bush has found his own Ho Chi Mihn trail and if he extends bombing over the border in violation of international law he's completed the circle on his transformation into our generation's Nixon.

stand to see Iran with all our oil! In this speech he claims they would use the profits from the oil to buy weapons to use against us. He's gone off the deep end.....and people in the audience applauded this crap. Past time to impeach. imho

Why don't *'s handlers hand him a chainsaw and point out brush that needs trimming....whatever? He shouldn't be allowed to use recess time to provoke wars.

33. NO.
Especially since they very quietly, with the last minute cooperation of Harry Reid, passed the IFSA (Iran Freedom Support Act) almost a year ago, an Iran sanctions bill originally sponsored by the uber conservative war-rabid Rick Santorum and containing among other things, supportive "regime change" language.

Bust Bush's Unlimited War Powers they themselves handed him on a silver platter years ago already and run the risk of being "soft on terra"? With '08 elections looming soon enough? Hell no, they won't.

U.S. troops reportedly detain Iranian delegation in raid on hotel in Baghdad

3:22 p.m. August 28, 2007

BAGHDAD, Iraq – American troops raided a Baghdad hotel Tuesday night and took away a group of about 10 people that a U.S.-funded radio station said included six members of an Iranian delegation here to negotiate contracts with Iraq's government.

35. Not only were his words threatening, his attitude was too. Earlier
I posted a few words about his expressions during the speech. The look in his eyes was one of anger and hate. If the speech is available, you should watch his face (if you can stand it) as well as listen to his threats. The man needs to be in a padded room.

And on a somewhat unrelated side note---- those involuntary mouth movements have gotten more bizarre over time- seemed especially pronounced. They almost remind me of a mild version of what is known in the mental health medical world as tardive dyskinesia.
