I just had an interesting conversation with my gay neighbor.
He said that he and a lot of his friends are gay.

Ted Haggard and now Larry Craig are in his words, "fags."

To my neighbor, it isn't being attracted to the same sex that makes them "fags," it's the fact they are such colossal hypocrites.

Interesting take on all this, woudn't you say?

1. I've heard this from a friend and neighbour before......
The same guys in fact, who refuse to attend the gay pride parade because of the "acting out" of many of the participants.

It's in interesting viewpoint, and I do understand where he's coming from.

2. Larry Craig is just a friggin' nut case!
Full of self-loathing and fronting for a conservative 'lifestyle' for the sake of election. The old 'do as I say, not as I do' bullshit. Sad old pervert. He BELIEVES his own bullshit!

3. Not an uncommon usage
Its common for groups that have a history of being oppressed to embrace a term used in a derogatory sense against them to define subgroups who do not positively represent their particular group.

8. "RoyCohns" is a better moniker.
This peculiarly Repuke manifestation of behaviour needs to be completely divorced from our gardening-variety, same-sex preference family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues, sports stars, airline pilots, janitors and cabinet builders. It is an entity unto itself involving power, money, entitlement and "illicit" sex. Maybe someday an academic will connect the dots.

5. No Offense to Your Neighbor, But That's Asinine.
Taking a word that's used against the gay community and turning it into a word that the gay community can use on itself regarding people we don't like is shameful at best.

I'd rather call them republicans. That's much worse than "fag" anyway.

9. It's his opinion.
I prefer the term, "absolute stupid asshole" myself. :-)

11. I like "idiot" for its brevity, but . . .
stupid fucking moron has a certain flow to it, I think.

A or B are correct answers, but C - All of the Above is the best answer.

12. I just repeated "stupid fucking moron" outloud and, you're right,
it does have a certain flow to it - and I feel a lot better. Welcome to DU, cordelia. Glad to have you with us.
