Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of Katrina in NOLA but there are 18 threads on Craig & bathroom sex?
And not one on NOLA??

Come on, we're better than that. Let's focus on the really important things - like people who are still homeless, people who never got their insurance or government money, and a city still struggling to begin to rebuild!

Just my thoughts on this - kick if you agree. Thanks.

But for now, we need to get the word out on yet one more false republican idiot.

I've also been considering the illustration given, that the Crescent City's days are numbered. Thanks to its location and the vagaries of human encroachment, the city seems destined to slip beneath the waves of the Gulf. We've blazed that trail ourselves.

But no matter what arises to supplant it, a likely port town on the continental shelf upriver, it will never be what New Orleans once was. A storied and unique place, like the near-mythical cities of Western Civilization. Athens. Rome. Paris. Venice. New Orleans....

13. David "Diaper Daddy" Vitter is from suburban N.O.
he held Bobby (I initially typed "Booby", and it's not the first time :P ) Jindal's seat in Congress before he ran for Senate.

Before Diapergate, there was the "Canal Street Madam" scandal; it is alleged that said madam has given birth to "Vitty Cent"'s love child.

http://www.samefacts.com/archives/watching_conservatives_/2007/07/sen_vitter_obeys_the_mitzvah_of_gen_128_.php

It isn't yet public, though apparently it's widely known in Louisiana political circles, that Vitter's commercial romance was blessed with issue. Reportedly his natural child now lives with her mother in Alexandria, VA. That they are receiving financial support from the Senator has not been shown.

Indeed. Kos reports that there may even be another love child, now a toddler. :eyes:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/10/25/0599/1603

The irony is that Vitter dropped out of that governor's race last year because of an affair with a prostitute and has an illegitimate child with another woman. No big scoop -- this is all out in the open and well-known in the state, yet Vitter is still running on a "family values" platform and obviously getting away with it.

So there you have it. Rampant repuke sex, right in greater New Orleans.

Now what's your excuse?

i remember sitting here posting about katrina days before the storm , when the storm hit and it`s aftermath. yes it was the biggest story but now as you said it`s bathroom sex...

maybe just maybe there won`t be another storm for enough years to give new orleans a chance to survive. it`s been down and out many times before so there`s always hope it will come back. we need new orleans ,it is our nation`s artery to the heartland and it`s our cultural soul....

NOLA is not the only city that suffered from Katrina and that is still suffering.

If you are going to post about Katrina, don't neglect her other victims/survivors.

Katrina was a flood to NOLA, it was a Hurricane to Mississippi.

23. Agreed
There are plenty of places still suffering in Katrina & Rita's aftermath. I know personally people that lost their homes and struggled after Rita, but that's hardly every mentioned.

When I think of Katrina, while I invariably think of the devastating flood in NOLA, I also always remember the pictures of towns completely decimated from the hurricane in Mississippi. Unfortunately, NOLA is almost always mentioned while everyone else is not even thought of.

34. If we could investigate Katrina, not only would there be impeachable offenses found, but some of the
most brutal leadership in civilized history would be exposed to the world.

That's why it was so important for Rove to get Leiberman to come to the dark side. The non-investigation of the Federal Katrina Response is the biggest crime B*sh has gotten away with yet.

I don't care how many votes you had going in--that evidence would be impossible to support. I wonder if Brownie will ever spill the beans now that he's been scapegoated. I think he wants to soooo bad.

This should be in everyone's mind as well as the folks in the south and midwest going through violent weather. It's great when government is on vacation and these victims are getting things done with a little help from their neighbors and state governments instead of waiting around George's incompetent nincompoops to fuck everything up.

also, as you may have noticed some folks were truly afraid their wee ones were at danger

Nothing brings the human animal more to a fighting stance than the fear of family being in danger

White House Knew of Levee's Failure on Night of Storm
By Eric Lipton
The New York Times

Friday 10 February 2006

Washington - In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Bush administration officials said they had been caught by surprise when they were told on Tuesday, Aug. 30, that a levee had broken, allowing floodwaters to engulf New Orleans.

But Congressional investigators have now learned that an eyewitness account of the flooding from a federal emergency official reached the Homeland Security Department's headquarters starting at 9:27 p.m. the day before, and the White House itself at midnight.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency official, Marty Bahamonde, first heard of a major levee breach Monday morning. By late Monday afternoon, Mr. Bahamonde had hitched a ride on a Coast Guard helicopter over the breach at the 17th Street Canal to confirm the extensive flooding. He then telephoned his report to FEMA headquarters in Washington, which notified the Homeland Security Department.

"FYI from FEMA," said an e-mail message from the agency's public affairs staff describing the helicopter flight, sent Monday night at 9:27 to the chief of staff of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and recently unearthed by investigators. Conditions, the message said, "are far more serious than media reports are currently reflecting. Finding extensive flooding and more stranded people than they had thought - also a number of fires."

... Bush and the Republicans spent all of the 2004 campaign talking about gaymarriagegaymarriagegaymarriage... and then the day after the election, Bush does a 180 and makes his "I have political capital and I'm going to spend it" on .. PRIVATIZING SOCIAL SECURITY! Thank goodness that did not happen, but gay marriage was the bait ... and the voters took it, and what did they get? A leader who hates govt so much that he wants to drown it in a bathtub, and seems to be succeeding through either neglect, privatization, or some combination of these forces. Katrina is the perfect example of the administration's inability or unwillingness to be effective for the people.
