How TF did this Craig business stay under the radar |
|
for so long? Many people must have known about this...the cop, the court officers, the judge, the prosecution, the secretaries, the local people in Minneapolis in the media, his lawyer...OOOPS, he didn't have a lawyer.
Lots of celebrity-type people go to trial and plead without a lawyer. Can't think of one offhand...
If you wrote this into a novel, people would throw it out in the trash.

More likely, what did Craig do to Bush/Cheney in the last couple of days to make them pull the plug on him?

Maybe Craig was thrown under the bus to make a point to others who might be tempted to start cracking down on Bushco. I must admit, the way this was thrown out in the press, and Craig's subsequent presser all seemed timed to cause maximun humiliation and burn.

Bush/Cheney just needed something to distract the media from Gonzo's resignation.

3. The newspaper knew, but they didn't release it until the guilty plea. |
|
I don't know anything about the stories back in 1982.
There was a writer from the Idaho newspaper on Hardball who said that. He also said they only KNEW about these 2 incidents.

9. It was MSP airport cops, no Mpls police or Hennepin County Sheriff |
|
The MSP airport cops are a little fiefdom unto themselves who don't necessarily interact with greater law enforcement community. Because it was misdemeanor it would have been assigned to city attorney office for prosecution, probably some attorney who prosecutes dozens of such things daily and would have paid little attention to it. The name Larry Craig is hardly noteworthy generally speaking. All the local reporters and the general law enforcement community were focused on the 35W bridge collapse when the plea occurred.
