I was unimpressed when Sen. Obama made the reference about it was his WIFE he had the AIDS check done with, when Sen. Biden said that black men shouldn't be so apprehensive to get an AIDS test, because he and Sen. Obama had done it - and instead of just letting it go, Obama made a rather silly couple of statements. I felt he was using gay people as a way to make a joke - Sen. Biden didn't seem at all amused - and I and some other gay people were insulted. However, I don't see how this thread is remotely inappropriate imo, because it is referring to Sen. Craig, who's a homophobe, and was just busted for illicit sexual behavior involving a guy. I think current discussion of a gay nature, with sarcasm, is approriate in this circumstance. If you elaborate further, maybe I can understand why you are offended by the original post. I think EarlG takes great strides to understand all types of people's opinions when writing his comments - and that's coming from experience I've dealt with him about, if my memory serves me right. But, then again, I'm tired.

43. I feel bad that you were offended by Obama's remarks but don't think

you should be, for the following reasons:

I remember when Biden said that he had been tested for AIDS, and so had Obama - I thought Biden was a total jerk
because he had invaded Obama's privacy by disclosing something personal about him. It's not up to Biden to disclose ANYTHING
of a medical nature about ANYBODY, other than himself - whether it's the fact that the person went for an AIDS test
or had his throat cultured for tonsilitis - it's just not his decision to make.

One of the things I admire about Obama is that he is extremely polite and well-mannered - so, I believe, he was taken aback
by what Biden said. Instead of becoming angry or showing annoyance, he clarified what Biden said (i.e., that he went with his
wife to be tested, and not with Biden).

I think he was trying to deflect his initial reaction of surprise and in no way intended
for the distinction to reflect poorly on anyone (other than Biden)!

Hope this makes sense - my dog just had surgery and I haven't slept in 48 hours. Anyway, whaddya think?

I just saw it again last week. The Photoshop is based off of a scene in the movie where Jack Nicholson (Jack Torrance) is talking to the (deceased) caretaker of the Overlook Hotel, Delbert Grady. Grady is talking about Torrance's son, going on about what a "naughty boy" he is.

Delbert Grady: Your son has a very great talent. I don't think you are aware how great it is. That he is attempting to use that very talent against your will.
Jack Torrance: He is a very willful boy.
Delbert Grady: Indeed he is, Mr. Torrance. A very willful boy. A rather naughty boy, if I may be so bold, sir.
Jack Torrance: It's his mother. She, uh, interferes.

It's a great scene, and when I saw that old Craig interview where he was calling Bill Clinton a "naughty boy ... a nasty, naughty boy" it reminded me of Grady's speech. The fact that the scene took place in a bathroom was coincidental but it seemed rather apropos.

I guess the reference was a bit too obscure.
