What would the international reaction be to a U.S. attack on Iran?
Specifically, I'm wondering how the EU nations, Russia, China, and India will react to such an event should it happen. Any DUers with insight on these other world-actors, please share.

1. JESUS CHRIST - HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MIND??!?!?!?
I mean - that would be the reaction.

That's me saying what they would say - that's not me responding to your question.

2. It would probably remind them of someone else
in the last century who invaded one country after another and it would make them very very nervous.

3. Exactly. At some point, people are going to line up against us
because we're becoming the 21st century version of early 20th century Germany.

4. the comparison is probably inevitable, but what will they actually do?
I'm especially wondering if Russia and China will take the opportunity of an over-extended and morally discredited United States to pursue geo-political aims that the America had previously restrained.

5. Russia, India and China would be one
counterbalance. The other independent of that is the EU. The EU is more concerned with countering US forced hegemony in a peaceful manner like controlling the rules of international trade.

6. Condemnation and Damnation. We would be the worlds most
despised state---although we may be that already.

7. What will the codemnation lead to?
I agree that such an attack would evaporate whatever moral credibility we may have left, but what specific actions will result from such a public display of our moral bankruptcy?

10. Economic
They would start calling in debts and screw up the Dollar big time.
They would switch to the Euro as international currency.

That sort of thing.
They wouldn't need a military method of condemnation.

8. Agreed! If we invade Iran
Chimp will have started WW3. It would be the end of the USA. This is one more reason for immediate impeachment. How much longer will this country continue to prop up a madman? I wish Congress would get back from "recess" and start proceedings. Sometimes I think Congress is just as addlepated as our Chimp. How I long for government of the people, by the people and for the people.

9. Some hidden jealousy
A few of those countries, deep in the halls of power, wish they could run around the globe like we do, and like they used to.

I'm sure they would say they disagree with the action. They would go along with it though, because if the US Government really wanted to attack Iran, who would stop us? The dead European empires have little military power. Russia is old news. China would hurt itself as much as anyone. Doesn't India get their fighter jets from us? The European countries especially, know that they can fund all their social programs as well as they do because they no longer need to acquire resources themselves. It's an increasingly integrated global economy, and the US militray is really the only force left in the world. So they would all say now that the action has been taken, all parties need to come to the table and figure out what to do next. That would happen again and again. And again, and again, and again.
