I remember the right-wing Rush wannabe doing an interview with the new "head of security" for the Browns (before 9/11).

This guy had worked with the secret service and all that stuff, around Presidents.

He was relating a story about how he had an entire route re-done because of a bad feeling he had. But, he pointed out, nothing went to the President unless there was near-absolute proof that something was up. And I keep thinking about that when I hear Repukes dismissing the August PDB ... that it would not have hit his desk unless there was serious evidence that something was about to happen ...
