I have heard this said at least once by every talking head. They keep talking about this "new catagory of men".I always thought that having a sexual orientation towrad your own sex was "gay" Are they saying these guys are bi sexual? They mention married men with kids.If they mean bi, why not say so? I still don't get that these guys aren't gay.Is this just to protect Craig? I heard a reporter "corrected" when she mentioned that Craig had solicited a "gay" sex act.Didn't he?

But not all tearoom encounters are "married men ".Some are just gay guys looking for excitement
Do they still get to be gay? Is Geiorge Micheal no longer "gay' but an "other" ? If they stop using tearooms do they get their gayness back.Is a "married man who meets a woman in a bathroom still straight? Or is he other as well? Can he be considerd hetero again if he stops ???

4. Guys who cheat on their wives with other guys are either
1. Gay and severely in denial...to the point of hurting innocent people...what woman wants to be with a man who doesn't really like women?

2. Bisexual and severely bad at monogamy.

Can't think of what else they would be.

5. Not necessarily
The usual definition is someone whose sexual attraction is primarily (or exclusively) towards their own gender. Many people whose position doesn't allow for hetero intercourse resort to homosexual acts as a way of releasing sexual tension without ever actually being gay (i.e. prisoners, sailors and soldiers at various points in history). Someone sexually attracted to both genders (the exact degrees vary) is bisexual as Craig appears to be (and as I am). I have no idea why the US seems so reluctant to describe someone as "bisexual". If we use the Kinsey Scale (Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale), then Craig (and myself) would fall somewhere between a 2 and 4 which is bisexual.

9. Sexuality Is Mutable
In Craig's case I'm pretty much convinced his wife is a beard and he is exclusively attracted to men...

7. It's not really new - Men Who Have Sex With Men has been in use in AIDS
prevention work for a long time.

The short version is: There are men who have sex with other men but do not - for whatever reason - identify as gay.

10. Well, speaking in an historical context....
Edited on Wed Aug-29-07 03:50 PM by libnnc
there was a time way back when in 19th Century New York City where working class men did have casual sex with other (more overtly effeminate) men when women (prostitutes) weren't readily available. Those men -- since they held masculine/"manly" working class jobs did not consider themselves to be gay. But that was before the rise of the middle class office workforce. Once less physical clerk/office type jobs became more available to young men in the city, they were more conscious of their masculinity (and the need to prove it) and shunned sex with anyone except women.

See George Chauncey's Gay New York for the scoop.

21. Being gay and having "gay sex" aren't always the same thing
Lots of straight men who have wives or girlfriends solicit oral sex from other men in places similar to where Craig got caught. They just want to get off and don't much care how they do it; but emotionally speaking, they mostly aren't gay.

Now then, the men who are servicing the above-described straight men, *they're* gay. And Craig is a liar, IMO; his specific actions, plus his history, scream gay at me (and I am too, so I have a little authority here).

It definitely *was* "gay sex" he solicited; there's no other way to describe it, and if news outlets are spinning that the other way, then yes, they are trying to cover up for Craig.

What he is NOT is a pervert. If he is, then so are 75% of the men in America.

25. Explained (satirically) here --->>
In an exclusive interview with myfoxnewsonline.com , Senator Larry Craig tonight defended his stance on not being gay. Senator Craig showed up for the interview with his beard wife in tow.

Senator Craig stated that there are "degrees of gayness", and that according to these degrees, he is not gay.

When pressed for details on these "degrees of gayness", Senator Craig responded by saying:

"Well you see, there are numerous degrees of gayness, which can help you determine if you are gay or not. Let's say you're married, like me, for instance. By general decree my marriage to a female makes me not gay. The fact that I like sex with other men has nothing to do with this".

Senator Craig then went on to list the degrees of gayness:

"1st degree: You're married, and Republican, but like getting sex from other men. Notice the key word from other men. If you receive oral sex from another man, or if you perform anal sex on another man, that doesn't make you gay because you're not the one sucking that dick or taking it in the ass.

2nd degree: You're married, and Republican, but like performing sex on other men. Since you're married it means you aren't gay, and besides, your wife only said she'd leave you if she caught you with another woman.
