On Katrina and International Help |
|
Well listening to Malloy and decided that we need to revisit Katrina for all its failures.
But one that was not a failure were the international teams that went in. Yep, those same teams that our complicit media never mentioned
There were teams from Canada and Mexico (In fact there is a photo of Mexican Sailors AND Dutch sailors helping to clean up a school)
There were a total of over 150 countries who sent food, teams or pledged money. Some of those countries had a disaster of their own (tsunami) not too long before
It is important to remember that in this hour of need we were helped by others. Even if our complicit media will not mention them.
Some of us know the dirty secrets of how those teams came in... and the story of how those teams came in is as sordid as almost other aspect of the disaster
I will also note that last week the Mexican Press was making comparisons of the pre -positioning of resources for Dean with our sordid response. If nothing else, the troops deployed, teams moved in, and water and food put in reserve means somebody learned something from Katrina... and acted in a fashion consistent with CIVIL DEFENSE... alas not our do nothing we don't believe in government wanna be king.
I'd like to offer a minute of silence for the dead and injured.
But I'd like to offer a warm felt thank you to those people from around the country, and indeed the world, who did the work of rescue and recovery. And to those who still are trapped in that mess, we have not forgotten you, even if those in charge in DC from BOTH parties seem to.
They whistle past the grave as another generation did in 1927

3. Of course other countries sent in teams |
|
We would have sent MORE aid if it happened in another country. We pathologize our own poor and make them out to be undeserving... So when a tsunami hits Asia, everyone lines up to help... But when a storm takes out New Orleans, all we do is talk about "lawlessness" and what "animals" "those people" are...
