17. LOCKHEED-MARTIN, ALLIANT TECHSYSTEMS, HALLIBURTON, KELLOGG BROWN & ROOT BLACKWATER, BWX TECHNOLOGIES |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 12:09 AM by GreenTea
These same republican corporations who support Bush and the war/occupation - they also own & control the media....They are stealing billions of dollars; LOCKHEED-MARTIN, ALLIANT TECHSYSTEMS, HALLIBURTON, KELLOGG BROWN & ROOT, BLACKWATER, BWX TECHNOLOGIES, GENERAL ELECTRIC, BECHTEL, NORTHROP GRUMMAN, RAYTHEON, THE BOEING COMPANY, GENERAL DYNAMICS, BAE SYSTEMS INC.
Of course they want to stay in Iraq while Bush keeps the war/occupation for profit going and going...How many billions of our tax dollars have they already stolen? How many more billions more will they get their hands on?
And how about the oil industry/corporations like EXXON & the rest, stealing unmetered Iraq oil & claiming the rights to future exploitation...hundreds of billion to trillions of dollars more for them, as they shamelessly gouge us every day at the pump for even more profits...
This occupation for profit is long from over, and won't be over as long as Bush is in office and he'll be there until at least January 20th 2009.
And our kids and Iraqi's will continue to die....but profits will be up for the corporations isn't that just great?

27. The only way this should go through is as part of a larger supplemental package |
|
Let's face it right now -- the Dems are not going to withhold any of GWB's fun money. If W wants 50 billion, congress is only going to ask "large bills or small?" False hopes only lead to further disappointment, we know how it works by now.
So what congress should be doing is putting a whole lot of riders on that sucker. This would be an ideal opportunity to fully fund Katrina recovery, shore up Medicare, and maybe even do something in the way of rolling back the infringements on civil liberties. Every giveaway to the Military-Industrial-RNC complex should be matched in full by some equivalent allocation to the people of America.
Put the onus on shrub every time to veto the funds for the troops. Every time.

38. Sadly - I must agree. |

I don't think we will see a sudden guts infusion by those DEMS on the Hill - the same ones who promised to end Shrub's damn war in November of 06. Minus the likes of Kucinich and Feingold - chances are we will see another cave in like we saw last May - inexplicably funding another 3-4 months, then another....
So yea, if they will never draw a line in the sand; they might as well do some good with the bad.
I would not have fathomed I'd agree with you a year ago - though the party I voted for has failed their constituents big time (at least on repeatedly giving Shrub war $$$) and I see nothing to change that trend on the horizon.
Though I'd love to be surprised!

43. heck, I was surprised they even managed to take congress in '06 |
|
I was blown away, frankly. Never thought they'd do it. I remember there was this handful of senate seats left undecided Tuesday night, and I had done the math where it looked like the Dems would basically have to sweep nearly all of them, like five out of six, to take the senate. All the news anchors were openly skeptical to the point of derision. And then the results finally came in one by one, and the sweep happened, and I was just amazed.
Still, with the republicans firmly in control of the executive and judiciary, and filibustering like mad in the senate, the best we can really hope for along these lines is compromise. So instead of fretting about the impossible, let's remind our reps to turn that oozing blemish on the face of the budget into a mere line item in an omnibus spending bill.
Frankly, the thing that worries me most about the 50B is that it will turn out to be leverage for an imminent push into Iran...

51. I'm so sick of all this bullshit |
|
I'm tired of our fucking dickwad "President" and his cronies selling this nation into war, poverty, debt, and making all his corporate friends rich while New Orleans still lays in ruins. B*sh doesn't give a FUCK about anyone else - only about him and his friends. Jefferson and Hamilton must be rolling over in the graves so much that they look like skeletal whirling dervishes.
So what's going to happen if we don't impeach Bu$h and Company? They're all going to go back to their ranches in Texas, riding horses and laughing about the fun they had in Iraq. And then Bush will get a presidential library.
No retirement in Texas for Bush. Impeach him and boot him from office. Then bring his ass to the ICC. Indict, convict, and imprison. He and all his corporate friends should be locked inside the Hague so deep that none of them ever see the light of day again. We take control of his assets and give it to the poor. Justice needs to be done.
I'm so tired of this. Brothers, sisters, let's get this criminal out of the White House and into the prison where he belongs!

79. They don't have any special knowledge. |
|
They are just keenly aware, that for the most part, the lobbying and campaign monies that they absorb come from the same sources as those which fund the Republicans. For those dependent on corporate donations to fund their campaigns, denying the corporate sugar-daddies an opportunity to make huge profits would seem unwise if they want to be re-elected.
We desperately need public funding of all political campaigns, and major reform to the laws that regulate media. These are requisite to electing representatives who posses a genuine interest in improving our society.

They are just terrified little people who secretly believe everything Bush tells them.
The fact that everything is a lie and they know it doesn't matter at all.
Bush wants more money to kill people, Democrats give it.
The only difference between today's democrats and republicans is a sex scandal or two.
Other than that, they all simply follow where they are told.
When the hell are we going to get a real government here?

This is why the DLC is dangerous. For all their claims of supposedly wanting to help Democrats, they employ people like Marshall Wittman who specifically try to undermine the Democratic Party, even if it means he has to publicly defecate out the most rank and easily-debunkable lies. They reguarly give credence to the right wing's agenda and its worst, most unsupportable lies. They are the real force that tries to make sure this country is a one party state and that Democrats never really challenge the Republicans in a serious way. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/why-the-dlc-is-so-dangero_b_13640.html

The majority are bought and paid for by Wall Street.
Let's just give the entire Congress to the top Fortune 535 CEOs.
It would be more honest and save us the bother of voting.

Then the Dems and their ardent supporters will demand complete loyalty from those opposing the war, using the rationale that the war will continue if they don't for the Dems. Even though we voted the Dems to power in '06 and they still have yet to do anything but keep the war going and kiss corporate ass.
