Hence why threads like these exist.

3. Ouchie--that's gonna sting the Gore crowd. |
|
And yet, it's true--there is no sign of him running. I think they are finally losing hope. Hard to let go of a dream.

Why....you got a problem with that?
He got elected once. He's still President, as far as I'm concerned. The other deal we got going on now is nothing more than a giant hoax.

8. Heh, heh,...he may not have to run. |
|
He may just be able to walk right through, on a wave of support not seen since the days of Bobby Kennedy.

when buscheney tries to declare martial law, suspend elections, there is a military coup and they install him - or Clark - or both - as head of state.

18. Do you sit satisfied in your glee? |
|
Do you need attention?
Do you have "mother" issues?
Is your penis under 3 inches, or there abouts?
Are you fearful of confronting others on a one on one basis?
Do you live in a basement? Rented room? Family cottage?
Do you prefer Marie Callendar Pot Pies for dinner?
Are you a complete and total loser?
Inquiring minds and all...

And I have mother issues. And My penis is very short. And I live with my mom, in the basement. etc...etc...
All those things you accused me of, including being a "total loser".
That's me!
What are you though?
Well, judging by your reply to me, it's no secret.
Sorry.

19. if he doesn't, I'll be hugely disappointed . . . |
|
knowing what he knows about the state of the planet, and knowing that none of the current candidates are going to do anything substantive about it, I believe he has a responsibility to put aside his dislike of politics -- hell, we ALL dislike politics -- and get in the race for the good of his nation and the planet . . . anything less is a cop-out that I find unacceptable and, as I said, HUGELY disappointing . . .

20. Have you THAT little confidence in your own candidate? |
|
You guys really need to believe Gore isn't going to run. You keep saying it over and over and over and over again in threads very like this one. You never see posts from the Gore people beyond the occasional hopeful ones, but you people are SO certain that Gore isn't going to run that you keep declaring it publicly ... probably because it's pretty clear he IS going to run.
Had you been reading any of the Gore-related posts, you'd see a large group of us don't expect him to declare until November.

21. He'll Announce In Second Half Of October |
|
He's scheduled for several appearances out West in early October. The final one being on Thursday October 11, a date which was apparently originally scheduled for Friday 10/12, and had to be changed due to "scheduling conflicts." Those "conflicts" just might have to do with the fact the Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced on Friday 10/12.
Therefore, as many have said, he won't want to cause any influence, so he won't say anything until After the Prize winner is announced.
I'd predict between Monday October 22 & Thursday November 1 is the time we'll see whether he's In or out.

24. Let's let Al be Al and wait and see what Al wants to do. |
|
While we're waiting, we can all order the new Joni Mitchell CD, due in just a few days, called SHINE.
If you know anyone inclined to vote blue, urge them to register. I'm hoping for large margins in November 08.

36. I'm guessing the man isn't likely to let himself be rushed if he's |
|
going to enter the race, or pressured otherwise if he's decided not to.
Plus, he's bigger than I am and could whop me a good one if I crossed him.
I think a Gore candidacy is possible, and for many on DU, preferable. I'm supporting another Democrat in the primary, but if it should happen that Gore is our candidate, I hope he chooses a sturdier running mate this time and after that, I think he'd do very well in a general election.
Those funny ballots down in Florida are gone now, too. Al would carry Ohio (he lost it by I thik 3.4 % or so) and he'd contend in Florida this time as well -- and those two states plus the others he carried would give him control of the electoral college.
The hard part is deciding if he wants the nomination.

No one has ever heard of him. If he got in now he wouldn't have time for primary voters to even learn who he is. And money? How can he raise money? A virtual unknown with no base of support. You are a political genius. Bob Shrum, is that you?
