will you continue to support the dems? will you vote for them come 08? Will you be angry and write them to tell them how pissed off you are at them?

or...

Will you just sit idly by and just say, "more business as usual" be apathetic, slump your shoulders and give up?

Any threat to not support the Democratic Party with your full heart, soul and mind generally gets the thread disappeared.

17. Follow your heart and do the right thing now!
Kucinich has a knack for doing the right thing. He never wavers on his vote. Do you wonder why we have to wonder how our corporate Dems will vote on this? I am tired of politicians with agendas and have decided to help Kucinich get elected as opposed to sitting on the side complaining how unelectable he is. Not a lecture...just saying. Peace and love, Kim

14. And post LTTE in your local papers which tends to inspire others to speak up.
Get the ground shaking for DEMs on the Hill by shaking the grass roots awake!

LTTE

If your local radio has call-in programs, CALL IN

If you are really brave, call programs what air nationally

Email those sites for news programs and make THEM hear the thunder storm brewing in America

Contact local politicians and ask: Why hasn't OUR community passed a resolution calling for the end of the war?

Put the heat on.

15. how about...
screw you! I don't follow any dogma I don't answer to anyone least of all you. And If I choose to question our elected leaders, damn straight I will as an American.

Now go away and bother someone else with your heel clicking support.

If you can't find yourself able to question the motivations of our elected offices in or out of our party, then you have something clearly wrong with you and are no better then the fundies.

Good lord, get a fucking grip.

16. I didn't ask if you were an American.
Being able to question the motives of elected officials and making it your job to bash Democrats are clearly two different things. You seem to be doing a lot more of the latter than you are of the former, which you are, of course, entitled to do. However, it's a little conspicuous that it is ALL you do on a website devoted to supporting Democrats.

I have a grip, thank you. And as I've been rather calm through this entire exchange, I'd argue that I have a far better grip on things than you do, but thank you for the suggestion.

33. Define a significant change for me.
Last I checked, oversight and accountability has been ramped way up. If you expected Democrats to end the war the moment they took office, you had completely unrealistic expectations. Nothing gets changed overnight.

Furthermore, there HAVE been significant policy changes with regards to labor, health care, federal spending, education, and a boatload of other progressive areas. That YOU have tunnel-vision on Iraq is not the fault of congressional Dems.

37. I didn't expect overnight change, but I was hoping that we would have at least a....
gradual withdrawal of troops from Iraq by now, even if it just started, instead we have a Goddamn surge, of all things. Besides that, its not JUST Iraq, the FISA vote, permanent or temporary, was stupid. Oversight, while sounding nice on paper, is meaningless if the damned subpoenas aren't enforced. The only positive things that have come about, so far, are the possible passing of the SCHIP expansion and the minimum wage hike, even though both are half measures, at best.

I'm not asking for the Dems to reach for the Moon, but for a streetlight, and they can't even do that.

35. I'm not sure the blue dogs aren't listening to their constituents
I know the one blue dog we've got here in CO (John Salazar) comes from a district that is very conservative, and could easily swing back to Republican control if he moves too far to the left. The trick, I think, is trying to convince him (and others) that even conservative districts are moving against this war, that it's not a left vs right issue, and that voting against Bush on this is want the country and his district not only want but need.

or

Will you concur that supporting the major-party stronghold of consensus opposition to Bushworld is still worth the effort?

38. Frankly it isn't a matter of merely voting *against* the funding
It is the fact that the Dems have the option of completely defunding this war, without a vote, yet they continue to refuse to do so. They could easily hold up each and every supplemental war funding bill in committee, defund the war and bring the troops home. Yet instead they make meaningless gestures, mouth pious platitudes and come up with excuses for why they are allowing the carnage to continue.

Once again, they have a chance to prove that they are the party of the people. Let us hope that they take this opportunity to do so. If not, then yes, not voting for them is a serious option. Considering that I and millions of others have been writing, phoning, marching, all to stop this war, and they still aren't listening, it has become apparent that the only weapon we have left is our vote. And if we don't use that weapon, well, we become just as culpable in this mess as they are.

40. Gee, on the one hand we have war mongering 'Pugs who want to keep the war going
On the other hand, we have spineless Dems who won't stand up to end the war. The net result of going with either party is that the war continues, and thousands of innocents continue to die. Two parties, same difference, no matter what the reason, the war continues. Perhaps it is time for a third option, one that would actually end the war.
