Poll question: What % of the US public will support Bush when he takes us to war with Iran? |
|
I think that the desire to be "strong on defense" and to "support the troops" will mix well with the fear of the sheeple and result in popular support for the war with Iran. We do a good job invading. We just won't occupy. And maybe we can get up and leave from Iraq. Bush thinks that he can invade with as little as 38% support for war with Iran. I think that he will get at least 60%. What say you, DU? What percentage of the American public will support military confrontation with Iran?

1. That's a tough one. When they start the flag waving and bible thumping, |
|
they will get at least 30% or maybe a little more. Propaganda is very powerful.

2. I think 30%, but there is no unique 30% slot. |
|
So I went 20-30% though I should have probably gone 30%-40%

but I picked 60% and all major candidates. Why do I say this? Because they will orchestrate it to the point that people will accept it and believe them. And we'll be here on this board with our mouths hanging open wonderfing WTF happened.

|
The propaganda outlets will hype nationalism as never before with flags waving and patriotic/martial music constantly playing in the background, people will be told they're in mortal danger and that the Bush admin is the only thing in this world that can save them.

9. There are 3 preeminent issues MSM will not cover responsibly: |
|
(1) foreign policy, esp. leading up to and at the point of invasion and for some time afterward; (2) the War on Drugs (though this is changing somewhat); (3) the War on Guns; still locked hard into a prohibitionist stance which approaches political masochism.

10. What will the number be or what will the polls report the |
|
number to be? That is the question. We will never really know how the public feels with the current media coverage. That being said the number will be 20% in support reported as 48%. Peace, Kim

12. I'd say about 20-25% won't even hear about it |
|

I suspect about that percentage of Americans knows little more than their phone number and what they're eating for dinner.
Seriously though, Bush's base of about 25% plus about 15% more sheep makes 40%. Heavy propaganda probably pushes that number to around 50-55%.

An attack on Iran will not be announced. It will just happen. Once it does, nothing anyone says or does will stop the War. Iran will strike back in a massive way.

And the black-ops and propaganda haven't gotten into full swing yet... I think the percentage will be much higher then 30%.

17. Looked at the topic and thought, "60%". |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 09:11 AM by DireStrike
I love it when my choice is popular before I know it is. 60% + top tier dems, fo sho.
People love a war until it starts costing money and lives. Then they get angry, and want the fighting to continue as some sort of punishment for the enemy, as if they weren't supposed to be hurting US.
However, I also don't think he'll do anything more than bombing runs, IF that.
