The republicans want this to go away and retain their seat count in the Senate. This is their goal today. They want the republican Governor of Idaho to appoint a new republican Senator so that the new Senator has time to garner "incumbent blessings" before 08.

That's what this is all about and why they are forcing the issue to have Craig resign. Heck, Governor Otter may appoint himself!

Craig had "nasty" baggage that was going to come out during the 08 re-election is my guess. This makes thing go much faster. I wouldn't be surprised if I heard the GOP set him up in the first place.

We, a Democrat will fair much better running against Craig with the current baggage. I bet that is why no Democrat has said a peep.....with the exception of talk show hosts.

1. I'm sure some other Republican would beat him in the primary,
in the unlikely event that he chooses to run again. He won't be our next opponent, unfortunately.

2. Yes, he should stay and come out and say he's sorry to gays.

That'd really get the GOPs blood boiling. If Vitter can stay with his diaper fetish and get a standing ovation...well...we know he's not giving up his seat over the matter because a Democrat would take his place. It's too bad the Repubs are afraid of gays and women's right to choose. But then again...he should go because wouldn't a replacement have to be up for election in 2008?

3. Even if he doesn't resign the chances are he won't run again.
