WMD's found at the UN? . . . . .

1. they found old viles of ...
... phosgene (mustard gas).

Carelessness (OK, plain irresponsible) ... yes.

Anything more nefarious ... doubtful, it's just getting minimal air time ... ?

4. The reports I heard really focused on ...
... the irresponsibility at the UN ... the report didn't even refer to it as "mustard gas"

I guess the news outlets I have paid attention to today just didn't play this up at all.

5. I've only heard snippets . . .
but for those loyal Bushies - it's totally enough to get them scurrying back into their caves.

Crikey.

6. Phosgene's neither mustard gas nor intrinsically military
It's not something you want to stir in with your morning coffee no matter what, but it's also a relatively mundane industrial/laboratory chemical. Seven-digit tonnages of it are made every year.

I still wanna smack that dipshit reporter who said it was nerve gas, though.

7. Quite correct, my bad ...
My only real point is that the reports I have heard (brief) really didn't play this as a "terra, terra, terra" story.

8. I saw one say "OMG NERVE GAS!" but not much else
BBC's saying "dangerous chemicals including phosgene," and generally said it's a non-issue. Turns out the phosgene actually was from Iraq, but has been sitting in the office for ten years or something.

It's an interesting story, but not a stopthepressian one.

3. The reason the UN announced they had WMDs was to make sure Bush wouldn't invade them.
Damn sneaky foreigners.

9. Wouldn't that cause the opposite reaction from Bush? (i.e. Bush bombs the beejesus out of the UN)
