5. I'm in good company, then.
 I have all the best wishes in the world to people who want to bring progressive radio to Sandi Ego. They sure need something besides "Top Gun," Duncan Hunter, Pete Wilson, and Duke Cunningham.

3. Our local progressive AAR affiliate
they were thinking of turnign the station to sports

Never mind it went from sports to AAR affiliate

It is the fifth market for the AAR network

Well, this broke I think last thursday

By saturday people were organizing

By monday, yes MONDAY, there were hundreds (official KLSK number) my estimate is 1500 people outside the station

One of the suporters was the city attorney and they got their marketing going the right way

The thinking is the station will remain, or should remain progressive

Me, it is a clear channel station and for many reasons (2008 elections) I didn't think anything we did would work. Well today I was wearing the T-Shirt I got at the rally... and it seemed the demo did something and locals are bout to override Houston.

Did I mention the City Attorney did mention something about sending folks to Houston?

6. radio-info.com radio people think it was a publicity stunt
Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. If it was, more power to them.

10. I thought so too
But I'm not so sure now.

As far as I can piece together, KLSD did have a really bad spring ratings book, where they took an unusual dive. CC corporate periodically sends out a list of stations across the country that they consider to be 'underperforming.' That's regardless of format, so no 'progressive talk' conspiracies here. KLSD was on the recent list, and the PD (who is very supportive of the format) was give the directive to improve the situation there. One possibility was a flip to sports (though nothing was set in stone about it).

Somehow, the rumor got out about flipping to sports. It grew from there. A San Diego Radio news site reported on it first, and my blog followed soon after. Outside parties organized the rally, put up a website and started a petition. Of course, KLSD's promotions department got involved, as they saw it as a chance to boost the station's fortunes without a format flip (many there seem to be supportive of keeping KLSD's format).

All in all, this likely gave the station a good shot in the arm. Hopefully, it stays.

13. Stations should be afraid of their audience! Audiences shouldn't be afraid of their station!

Or so I was trying to say at the rally a week ago as my avatar there...

Also, everyone go stop at a Rubio's and pick up a Langostino Lobster burrito and thank them for advertising on KLSD! They've been airing that commercial on quite a bit over the last week or so. You can get it right next door to the Landmark theater in La Jolla before or after you go to see the "11th Hour" there. A good way to see that great flick and combine helping save KLSD in the process! I did it on Sunday evening. Great flick BTW!

12. Hey, really?
Keep the GD folks up to date. To be honest, I'd kinda written off that station, based on what I'd heard a few days ago.

Stacy Taylor's good people, BTW. Heard him for the first time subbing for Randi coupla weeks ago.
