Former Seattle Mariners Mgr.'s wacko comments about John Kerry and Hillary!
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 11:37 AM by RiverStone
In the big picture, words from a MLB manager that bailed on his team during an 8 game winning streak means little. It's tough enough being an M's fan at the moment without reading what follows. Former Seattle Mariners Manager Mike Hargrove was interviewed yesterday in Cleveland and made a strange comment - I can't quite figure out what he meant by it - though was annoyed to read it. See quote below (in bold):

Seattle Times
8/31/07

CLEVELAND — There were only two times this week when former manager Mike Hargrove was asked for the "real" reason he left the Mariners.

That's what Hargrove was saying at Jacobs Field on Thursday night as he took in his first game since abruptly resigning July 1. He says he's gotten used to the queries about why he left a team in an eight-game winning streak and knows many won't accept his explanation that he'd simply grown tired of managing.

"It's been fewer and fewer, but I got asked twice this week so far," said Hargrove, who lives about 20 miles from Cleveland. "I thought that baseball was America's pastime. It's not. It's conspiracy theories. John Kerry's probably the one that started it and Hillary's bringing it on through."

4. Means he retired because of dementia.
No friggin' idea what else it could mean. I'd guess he's saying that everyone is worrying about why he's retiring instead of worrying about baseball, and they think there must be some secret reason for him leaving, involving a hidden conspiracy. The Kerry and Clinton dig sounds more like a weak minded wacko lashing out at candidates he doesn't like or understand. Who knows what connections he's made in his "mind--" maybe blames them for 9-11 conspiracy theories, or something to do with Iraq... Who knows? He quit his baseball team while it was on a win streak--his mind is clearly not right, for whatever reason.

Someone should correct his sorry ass now ... the original "conspiracy theorist" was Mr. "I have a list of Communists" Senator McCarthy ...

9. Par for the course
for the moron that had Sandy Alomar bunt in the 11th inning of Game 7 in the 1997 World Series. The same Sandy Alomar who was hitting .367 in the Series. With the pitcher following.

Still unforgivable....whatta idiot.

10. Until now I believed his explanation
for his departure.

But this makes me wonder... methinks he doth protest to much.

11. and good riddance to him
Too bad his replacement did not learn how to manage in the dughouse either.

On an aside Truth2Tell - lets hope Reid and Pelosi will shed their wool for next months vote. On another thread, I posted how quiet things seem (vs the marches and vocal opposition) that we saw before last May's vote. Sadly, I think many are resigned to the fact that the Dems will indeed cave again. Give Georgie another 50B for his fucking immoral war. Sheep indeed...

Great picture. Sums it up!
