FBI suppressed video of TWA explosion

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57375

More than six years after retired United Airline captain Ray Lahr launched his Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, petition into the fate of TWA Flight 800, the FBI has shown him –likely by accident – one seriously smoking gun.

The Boeing 747 blew up off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996. One of the FBI documents received recently by Lahr and his attorney, John Clarke of Washington, D.C., details a communication that took place six days after the crash:

"On Tuesday, July 23, 1996, a representative from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) advised that after a visual analysis of both the videotape as well as a number of still photographs taken from various portions of the tape, the phenomenon captured by appeared to be consistent with the exhaust plume from a MANPAD missile."
"The FBI guy who looked at this must not have read it, or not have realized what it would reveal," says Lahr. "Otherwise he would have redacted most of it as before."

Adding a new level of intrigue to the investigation is the fact that the video in question appears to have been shot on July 12, 1996, five days before the crash.

The earlier, unedited FBI document reports that a fellow and his friend on Long Island were attempting to videotape the sunrise when they saw and recorded "a grey trail of smoke ascending from the horizon at an angle of approximately 75 ."

So compelling was the visual that the fellow made a comment to his friend, heard on the tape, "They must be testing a rocket." The fellow calculated that object was heading towards the Atlantic Ocean.

On the document Lahr first received, the story of the video ends right there. The next two paragraphs had been fully redacted.

This current unedited version shows that the FBI took the video seriously enough to bring in the DIA for further analysis. As mentioned above, the DIA found the video image to be "consistent with the exhaust plume from a MANPAD."

What is shocking is that the authorities not only removed all reference to this video from the official record, but they also removed just about all reference to the DIA.

For the record, the DIA is a Department of Defense combat support agency and a serious player in the United States intelligence community. The agency has more than 11,000 military and civilian employees worldwide and describes itself as "a major producer and manager of foreign military intelligence."

1. I saw that tape on TV, like the next day, or two days later...
It really DID look like a rocket headed up to the plane. I remember all the explanations why what I see was NOT what I had seen.

I kept my kids (then 8 & 10) off the South Shore beaches for quite sometime, leary of disturbing drifting remains...

2. Pierre Salinger
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A38928-2004Oct16.html

He said the 1988 explosion of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, was a Drug Enforcement Agency operation that went wrong -- a theory for which no evidence materialized. He also fell for a hoax document found on the Internet that claimed that TWA Flight 800 was shot down near Long Island, N.Y., by a stray Navy missile in 1996; investigators concluded that it was blown up by a spark in its fuel tank.

3. A grey trail of smoke ascending from the horizon?
Notice that it's consistent with chemtrails.

9. Not really.
Exhaust plumes from MANPAD missles are really more of an off-white.

10. You have not answered my question.
And so I assume that you have no other reason for being in this thread than to spread your usual brand of "sunshine" and "goodwill".

7. Salinger 'totally sure' TWA 800 missile theory is true
http://www.cnn.com/US/9703/13/twa/

T R A N S C R I P T S
CNN Military Affairs Correspondent Jamie McIntyre interviews Pierre Salinger

CNN interview with NTSB Chairman James Hall

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The FBI, Pentagon and federal air safety investigators previously have discredited the theory, which spread through the Internet following the July 17, 1996, crash. On Thursday, National Transportation Safety Board Chairman James Hall called Salinger's allegations "irresponsible."

All 230 people aboard the Boeing 747 were killed when the plane went down in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York.

At the news conference, Salinger and Mike Sommer, an investigative reporter and former Salinger colleague at ABC News, showed radar images they said were taken from an air traffic control video from John F. Kennedy International Airport, where the flight took off.

"The Navy has not been honest..."
--Mike Sommer
(94K/8 sec. AIFF or WAV sound)

Salinger: Video 'confirms a missile'
The images, also released in Paris-Match magazine Thursday, show a blip identified as Flight 800, and another blip heading toward it that Salinger claims is the missile that brought down the plane.

The tape "completely confirms a missile fired down TWA 800," Salinger said. (196K/10 sec. AIFF or WAV sound)

At the news conference, Salinger and Sommer claimed the 'missile was fired during a "super-secret" U.S. Navy exercise off Long Island and was meant to target a Tomahawk missile, but hit Flight 800 instead when it "lost its lock on its original target."

They claimed the missile was either a kinetic energy missile or a continuous rod missile. Sommer said the kinetic missile would explode near the target and a continuous rod missile would "slice through" the plane.

15. One glaring inaccuracy:
"Sommer said the kinetic missile would explode near the target and a continuous rod missile would "slice through" the plane."

Both names describe the same kind of weapon. A kinetic missile by it's very name does NOT 'explode.' It destroys via kinetic energy.

13. omitting both eyewitness testimony and the results of chemical tests
http://www.webcom.com/~lpease/collections/mass/twa800.htm

any readers of this site have asked me to include a section on TWA Flight 800. The more I see and hear the more it is clear that whatever the truth is, it is not being shared with the general public.
On the news on 12/5/97, it was reported that although the NTSB had to move their public hearing on this case to a larger forum to accommodate the huge interest, they were specifically omitting both eyewitness testimony and the results of chemical tests which indicated that traces of solid fuel of the type used in missiles had been found on fabric stolen from the plane during the recovery process.

So instead of dealing with scientific evidence of a missile, matching the accounts of scores of eyewitnesses, what is the FBI going to do? They are going to prosecute the people who stole the evidence. And why did the people still evidence? Because they were concerned the government was going to whitewash evidence of "friendly fire" and lie about the evidence.

When I saw that, I knew I had to put this page up. Each of the links below leads to many, many other places with information. Please check these out.

I think it's very important that the truth must come out on whatever happened in the sky, not just for the victims, but for the airlines, future passengers, and all those around the world who think our government is lying to us about what really happened. Government depends for its power on one of two things - either military suppression, or consent of the governed. I think all of us would rather live in a country governed by the latter rather than the former. But if the government is not telling us the truth, it really hasn't obtained our consent. We need to consider where that leads.

14. Yet another reason not to trust anything the government says.
I havent believed anything they've said. Not about Kennedy, not about TWA 800, not about 9/11. If the missile theory proves true, who knows what else they're hiding from us?

17. So Word Nut Daily digs up a moldie oldie from the Clinton tin foil days.
:eyes:

I had a friend who had joined the AF about a year before this happened. Once on leave he told me that he and some people in his unit (his was an Airman dealing with base security) were told that the TWA flight had been shot down in a missile and that the coverup was a big deal.

When I asked him why they were telling such a big deal coverup to a airman with barely a year in, he got quiet.
