So Tony Snow resigns because he says he needs to make more money...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070831/ap_on_go_pr_wh/snow_resigns

You know, I am sorry he has cancer and all. And if he had resigned to be with his family because of the cancer, I wouldn't have faulted him at all. But to have him say that $168,000 a year just isn't enough for him, his wife, and three kids is an insult to everyone out there who is forced to survive on waaaaaaaaaaaaay less than that.

eta: It's not that I even fault him for wanting to make more money. Especially if he's dying, like many have pointed out. He just shouldn't have worded it that way because the vast majority of this country and the world lives on far less than he.

1. I know! I can't believe the press didn't hammer him on that!
Especially when he's got good healthcare.

2. so he wants to be a "journalist" again. But who would hire such an obvious Bush shill?

Oh yeah, his sleazy former employer.

Hell, as an official Bush shill, he might be worth even more to Faux

3. hey, he's being honest
he wants to make more money. how many times do we mock people for saying they want to spend more time with their families? give him credit for saying something less palatable, at least.

10. Except in his case "being with his family" would actually be true.
Like I said, I don't fault him for wanting to make more money. Just the way he said it I guess.

4. We should let this go. The guy is dying before our eyes. If he wants to
say he needs to make more money, I for one believe he is just dreaming. I don't think he has enough time left to make a bundle at thispoint. It's a bit pathetic.

5. When he took the job
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 02:34 PM by peaches2003
he knew he had cancer. He made a BIG deal on his radio show asking the radio audience what he should do because he knew he would have little time to spend with his kids if he accepted the job. He went on and on about this for about 2 days and had people call in. Then said he would take it because the callers wanted him to. It was all a fraud- he had already accepted the job. This is BS about him needing more $$$ and that is why he is quitting. He knew the salary, he knew he had cancer and could easily have a relapse (his colon cancer was well-advanced when it was discovered) and he didn't seem concerned about his family and the salary at that time. I think it is pretty obvious why he is resigning and this needing to make more $$$ is just an excuse.

I have always disliked him since he pulled this nonsense about not being sure he should take the job and he was soooo worried about his kids and family and maybe he shouldn't take it, when he had already accepted the job. Lying seems to be a prerequisite to working in this White House. He never should have taken the job if $$$ was a worry.

6. I'd like to know 2 things.
1) Whenever I left a job, I would lose my insurance.
How does he continue to get his very expensive cancer treatments covered?

2) Who will hire a guy that might be dying?

7. Republican groups
He'll speak to Repug groups who will pay a fortune for as long as he can and of course will be a Faux News 'contributor'. I imagine he has maybe three-six months at the outside.

9. I think he's dying
but doesn't want to say so.

He must have a lot of money from his radio gig - I think his family will be financially secure.

11. He's dying (maybe 1-2 yrs left) and he's just seeking more $$ for family before croaking.
I can't say I blame him. He looking to create a nest egg to provide for his family when he's gone. Probably one of the few examples of his being a decent human being.

12. Keep in mind Health Insurance does not always
cover these humongously expensive cancer therapies.

J. Edwards has one of the best policies available in US and
they have to argue everymonth with Insurance Company. They
are and admit they are fortunate. If Insurance does not
pay, they can pay for it out of pocket.

It makes sense for Tony to try to get a better paying job.
