Virginia Sen. Warner won’t seek sixth term
Edited on Sat Sep-01-07 12:02 AM by samplegirl
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20534057/RICHMOND, Va. - Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia, one of the most authoritative voices in Congress on the military and a key figure in the debate over Iraq, said Friday he will not seek a sixth term in 2008.

Warner, 80, was elected in 1978, after the dashing former Navy secretary campaigned alongside his wife at the time, Elizabeth Taylor.

Warner is leaving what would have been a safe seat for the Republicans if he had chosen to run again. His departure gives Democrats a better chance to protect or even expand their one-seat majority in the Senate.

1. That makes 2 down, and ??
The flip side, is that I think Tim Johnson won't run again. :( and I suspect that Landrieu will have difficulties, so I guess it's a wash..

4. He was really not one of the
nasty neo-con republicans. He did come out against the war.
He's not the new breed of rightwingers.
