Retaliating against a right-wing coworker.
A few days ago, one of my coworkers, who's notoriously right wing, wore a Michael Savage t-shirt to work with the slogan "Liberalism is a mental disorder."

Of course, such a thing cannot go unanswered.

So I'm looking for some t-shirts of my own to answer him. Preferably loud tie-dies, just so I can fit that "obnoxious hippie" stereotype, though any t-shirt that entertains DU will do.

1. Get him a Ted Nugent CD and some headphones
He will think its a compliment and it will cause further brain damage.

2. Your work certainly has a liberal dress code.
I hope it doesn't involve dealing with the public, face to face. MKJ

7. Yes, the dress code's liberal, no we don't have to deal with customers.
Edited on Sun Sep-02-07 09:18 AM by backscatter712
we're a bunch of engineers. Most of us are actually pretty liberal, but there's always that right-wing cow-orker, isn't there?

And yes, the dress code is liberal - it's nothing more than "Wear clothes to work." The sales and marketing folks on the other side of the office, naturally, dress professionally since they deal with customers all the time.

14. Just get one of Bartcop's "Worst President Ever"
shirts, that should do the trick nicely. Oh, and do stop by the DU store, too. I'm sure there are selections here that would work.

Either that, or complain to HR about an insulting shirt and how it is creating a hostile work place for the majority of you who have to work with this clod.

3. Do you have an HR department?
If so, I would print off about 20 of Savage's choice quotes and give to the HR manager.

10. Actually, I know the HR guy.
It's a one-man show, and he's a good friend of mine.

We've both come to the conclusion that this problem is best dealt with through snark.

Not only am I going to wear my own t-shirts, but I'm going to whoop him in fantasy football!

8. I'd Say Do Nothing.
I can't help but think that starting a tit for tat T shirt battle would do more to bolster his point than it would to bolster your own.

12. Certainly both of us know to keep this within limits.
For everything, we still respect each other, so it's more of a friendly rivalry, not a war.

He wears snarky t-shirts, I wear snarky t-shirts. That's as far as it will go.

22. Gotcha. In That Case, Though I'm Not Sure If One Exists, I'd Look For A T Shirt That Says
"Wait... You STILL support this President?" followed on the bottom by a cartoon picture of a character rolling on the ground laughing.

Come to think of it, that would make a really cool T shirt. Wonder if there's already one like it around somewhere.

13. Make an offhand comment that authoritarians are 1st to resort to insults/bullying, not the other way
And use his shirt as Exhibit A of authoritarians resorting to insults to get their point across.

16. There's some liberal online shirt seller that bloggers commonly have ads for....
... with a really sexy girl posing for a pic that looks to be about 75px x 400px.

Couldn't find them on my blogs right this moment tho. :(

I say don't validate his behavior by reflecting it.

If you want to respond in some way, wear a t-shirt that says something about morality and taking care of the least among us. Let him be the loud opposition to *that*.

30. Conservatism is a mental disorder
FYI:

There was this Berkeley study a few years back that linked conservative ideology with a simply-minded inability to preform complex thought and instead think in simple black-and-white terms.

http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2003/07/22_politics.shtml

When it was released, questions were asked here, and elsewhere, whether conservatism was a psychological disorder, as the study seemed to indicate.

In typical right-wing fashion, this shirt is a projection of their own personal flaws on their sworn enemies.
