One can easily see how that's not at all the same as mining explosives or shaft collapses.

15. A 4.7---I'm in Hollywood and didn't even feel it!
One of the benefits of sitting halfway up the Hollywood Hills (in the Santa Monica Mountains) is that we feel much, much less shaking during earthquakes. I'm kind of shocked I didn't feel this.

Never felt a thing here IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, which is nowhere near Riverside, or Santa Ana where the map shows the quake.

38. I'm temporarily in the hills and I didn't feel it.
However, it would go with the California prescription of "shake and bake", owing to the lovely temperatures we've been having.

Six of the seven signs of the Apocalypse can be found in LA.

32. This is too small to cause much if any damage.
4.7 is considered a light earthquake. Some rock and rolling but very little potential for damage.

34. I experienced a 4.7 once.
I was in traction on the 5th floor of a hospital and couldn't move if I wanted to.

I guess it's all a matter of perspective, but I found 4.7 to be plenty disturbing that day.

With the recent quakes in Peru and Japan, it all makes me jumpy.

But then again, admittedly I have no idea what I am talking about.
