Republicans Simply Are Not Funny
I've tried watching that pathetic show that Fox is airing to try and counter Jon Stewart.

It's really, really unfunny. Worse than Saturday Night Live. Stale, kind of 1950'ish skit humor coupled with news bits that just don't work.

And Dennis Miller is just beyond terrible.

I have honestly tried to be objective about this. South Park is funny, even when they skewer liberals.

This isn't.

2. I did laugh ONCE while watching the half-hour news hour, but not when or why they wanted me to.
They were doing a fake commercial for a drug to make Liberals like Hillary.

The drug was called OxySomethingorother...

As soon as they said "Oxy," I thought of Rush Limbaugh, and laughed out loud.

You are right.

Conservatives are NOT funny.

Liberals speak truth to power and call it comedy.

Conservatives ridicule the powerless, and call it comedy.

But I do have a formula for how to create a Conservative comedy program that would work, but I am loathe to post it, for fear that someone might use it and make a success of it.

4. Don't
:)

I think in order to be a good comedian, you have to be edgy and saying something that kind of sums up whatever the current zeitgeist happnes to be. Which is why TDS works so well.

Same holds true for artists. I mean how many rightwing artists have there been throughout history. Art is about moving boundaries forward, not back.

This is live action daddio! It's happening right now. Although I doubt anyone here has a clue what's going on. It's an inside joke/party.

8. Half Hour News Hour has been cancelled already, you may have caught one of the last shows.
Unless you're talking about that "Redeye" piece of crap.

9. It's So Bad...It's Really Bad
There are some bad that is worth watching just for a laugh. An example is the great Joe Franklin. New Yorkers know Joe well...and how awful his shows were, but you still tuned in...especially if you were wasted. Or there's bad series and movies...that become amusing despite themselves.

This show is bad awful. Yep, not only not funny but not even a curiosity. I was hoping the attempt to overcompensate would provide for some chuckles at this show's expense and I couldn't even get that. And for Miller...it's been long over for that Palooka...cha cha.

14. Comedy requires a keen sense of the absurd and good associative mental processes.
Good comedians do well on aptitude tests where "which is not like the others?" is emphasized - they're very good at analogies, similes, and metaphors.

Conservatives often seem to lack the sense of the absurd and skills in isolating the "unlike" item.

IMHO, of course.

17. I know for a fact that Mike Nelson is a repuke.
I've also heard that Mike is more of a centrist than a neocon. He has also said that he tries to keep politics out of his humor.

Although from my experience MST3K was pretty balanced when it came to political humor.
