3. I'm not a Dem but I have a sliver of hope that they will refuse
this time. Yeah, I am a silly optimist.

4. They have all but lost me, I am so mad I am tuning out politics altogether

The dems have shown that even when you hand them that they asked for, you get nothing. Before last year all we heard was "We are the minority party, we can't do anything..."

We fixed that, and now...

If the dems played the cards right, they would be winners for the next 40 years... but the message they gave to American was the one we all thought, but hoped was not true, "We are just like the other guys, just changed the name"

5. To answer your question: NO!
I will register as an independent.

This is why Kucinich is the answer. He has preached against funding this illegal war from the start.

10. Same here.
And no matter how it comes down, if Cooper votes for it, he's lost me. Of course you've got Marsha so we know how she's gonna vote.

12. Actually, Tanner is my Rep. If Marsha were mine, I'd probably
campaign against her 'til my feet fell off. Or run against her myself.

14. Nor would I, but when you look at her district, she is an exact representation of them.
Williamson & Sumner Cos. I believe. Typical rich, "I've got mine, to hell w/you!", snooty asswipes!:puke:

6. Who are "the Dems"?
If, for example, only 20 DLCers in the House join forces with a unified Republican Party then that's enough for a majority, and Bush gets his money. In a scenario like that, I can hardly justify punishing the whole party.

9. The problem is....
...in the end, no one end's up being punished.

Except us.

7. WE are the Dem party. Not them.
There are more of US than them in Congress. And it's up to us to make it our party. I'm not going anywhere. There may be a day when the system isn't "gamed" against more parties. Until then, I'm working this way. There is no better way. Yet.

8. Reid says he's already reaching out to Republicans
My hunch is a deal that funds the war and provides no specific withdrawal date, but limits the time troops can be sent to combat so that effectively Bush has to cut the number of troops down drastically.

I can understand why Democrats don't want to cut off funds to the troops but there ought to be a way to limit how Bush can spend the funds he gets. I'm for the Democrats no matter what because I fear the GOP is leading us into fascism. Still, I think the Democrats are crazy for not putting up more of a fight with Bush.

I'm sure the base and the independent voters will love it!

Gonna be great for turnout.

15. I quit the Dem Party after 2000 when they proved themselves
to be a majority of Cowards. I vote Green. I live in CA so my Pres. vote doesn't mean anything. I do like Kucinich. My fantasy is that he and all Progressives join the Green Party.

16. I'm sticking with the dem party
even though I frequently vote Progressive in local elections, but that's because voting Progressive isn't futile here, and I have no problem supporting Pat Leahy who has come out for defunding the war and Peter Welch. All three of my reps have made clear that they are adamently opposed to the 50 billion supplemental.
