A friend sent me a video from "America's got talent" and after it played

Does anyone know how this can happen? I don't want to scream at him unless I know he did it on purpose.

Kazaa, Limewire, that type stuff. Users download and upload directly to each other's machine, via a third-party server. A lot of viruses and accidental porn gets spread that way.

EDIT ADD: Also, he could have gotten it via torrent. Little different format - downloading from multiple users simultaneously. Same risks. Downloading from strangers is bad.

I don't need to look and frankly, I would delete the thing and do a virus/spyware scan. The tell your friend to stop. If he can't find it on YouTube or Google Video, then he needs to keep his illegal downloading to himself.

5. If it was already on the tape, and he wanted to tape over it...

...and didn't let it record all the way to the end, then you have the end of the previous movie recorded on the tape.

7. The guy that sent it to me wanted to tape over it? Because it looked like

it was forwarded. And there was a text document linked to it that had part of what the person who forwarded it said in the "forward line". (You know how people add their own comments?)

I'm glad I caught this and didn't sent it out! The first video was really cool.

10. Was it a computer file or was it a VHS tape?

If it was a VHS, he probably taped over something else (oops!). If it was a computer file.... I don't know.
