Republican Corruption in Florida: Deliberate Hanging Chads and Tom Feeney (FL-24)
Submitted by mole333 on 2 September 2007 - 9:44pm.

Corruption is one of the issues I focus on the most. On Daily Gotham I focus a lot on problems within the Democratic party in Brooklyn, NY. But nationally I find than generally it is Republican corruption that is most prevalent and damaging to America.

Right now, I want to focus on a particularly vile, corrupt Republican Congressman, Tom Feeney (FL-24). This is a man closely connected with the Abramoff scandal that Republicans want you to forget but you and I know is still playing out. But Feeney is also majorly involved in voter fraud. In fact, Feeney should be the poster boy for the most un-American attack on democracy America has seen in recent years.

Feeney is a sitting Congressman, but let's start out by realizing that Tom Feeney has already been fined by the House ethics committee for his Abramoff connections. He has already been found to be corrupt by the House Ethics Committee, yet is still a "respected" member of the Republican Party and has not resigned from Congress.

But there is probably more coming...it seems that the FBI is investigating Tom Feeney further for those Abramoff connections. Gee, and the Republicans wanted us to think the Abramoff scandal had blown over.

But perhaps the worst Feeney has done is active participation in voting fraud. Yes, I say ACTIVE PARTICIPATION in voter fraud. Tom Feeney has been accused of recruiting computer programmers to write software that could alter vote totals on touch-screen voting machines in Florida. From the Seminole Chronicle:

1. I hope Tom Feeney is pondering his fate on this Labor Day
In fact, I hope his ears are burning from FBI and House Judiciary Committee investigations that mention his felonious name repeatedly. He's among those republicks I desire most fervently to hear the 'clank' of prison doors for as many years as the law will allow.

2. Don't forget Raymond Lemme and Clint Curtis. Curtis testified before Congress and Lemme is DEAD.
Voterigging and murder
In June 2004, a programmer called Clint Curtis made a sworn affidavit stating that, in 2000, he had been approached by the Republican congressman Tom Feeney in order to produce voterigging software. Specifically, the affidavit (PDF link) says:

...
4. In the early fall of 2000, a man came into YEI and was introduced to me as Tom Feeney, future Speaker of the House of Representatives in Florida as well as YEI's corporate counsel and lobbyist.

5. I sat in meetings with Mr. Feeney on at least a dozen occasions over the next several months and we discussed several potential projects to edtermine their viability ...

6. During a meeting in late September or October of 2000 at YEI, there were four people present including myself ... Mr. Feeney said that he wanted to know if YEI could develop a prototype of a voting program that could alter the vote tabulation in an election and be undetectable ... After further discussion, Mrs. Yang told Mr. Feeney that we would attempt to build a prototype for this program so he could see it, test it, and show it to others. ...

9. I gave the software program, which was on a CD disc, and the report that was on disc and on paper, to Mrs. Yang. I stressed that she and Mr. Feeney could view the operation of the program and then see how to detect such fraudulent source code so it could be prevented. ... She immediately stated, "You don't understand, in order to get the contract we have to hide the manipulation in the source code. This program is needed to control the vote in South Florida."
...

Curtis originally went to a man called Raymond Lemme, an investigator from the Florida Inspector General's office. Two weeks later, on July 1st, 2003, Lemme was found dead in his hotel room. He left a minimal suicide note and the death was ruled as such - however there was no visual evidence, as the scene report stated that "a defect in the camera flash memory cards resulted in no usable photographs. Photographs will not be submitted with this report."

In fact, the photographs came out fine, and were eventually published online in a blog. They're very graphic, and I don't recommend looking at them; suffice to say that there are some distinct inconsistencies between the police log and the photographic evidence.<snip>

3. Don't forget that Feeney was the Florida Legislator who, in the 2000 election,
put together the plan that the Florida Legislature would seat its own delegates if Gore was declared the winner of the Florida vote.

He has a long, long history of electoral shenanigans of all kinds. And, being a leader in the Florida Republican party formany years, he has a long, long history of corruption.
