Chico California Beautifies Highways: Do Try This at Home

By Greg Burton

Members here in the community of Chico, California pooled their money together and bought billboard space to advocate the impeachment of Bush & Cheney. We hope that these actions will help shed light on the crimes of the Bush Administration, and hopefully halt the coming war with Iran. Some of us are also traveling to Washington, D.C. on the 15th of September 2007 to take part in a massive rally in support of impeachment.

11. Chico also has a GORGEOUS park. Bidwell park
http://www.chicochamber.com/Visitors___Relocation/Things_to_See___Do/Things_to_See___Do_.html

Bidwell Park was established in 1905 by Annie Bidwell, wife of Chico’s founding father, John Bidwell. Originally the land was part of the Bidwell’s Rancho del Arroyo Chico, one of the first major agricultural proprietorships in California.

Bidwell Park was donated to the City of Chico via a series of deeds between 1905 and 1911, five years after John Bidwell’s death. The original property was approximately 2,300 acres. However, with subsequent additions and a recent 1,000 acre acquisition, the park now exceeds 3,600 acres, making it one of the largest municipal parks in the United States.

For more information on Bidwell Park visit the City of Chico Parks Department website or the Friends of Bidwell Park website.

Lower Park
Lower Park has endless recreational opportunities for the public, including children’s playgrounds, natural swimming areas, and paved paths for runners, cyclists, rollerbladers and walkers. This section of Bidwell Park features ball-playing fields, picnic areas, the World of Trees walk, which is accessible to the physically challenged, and the parks environmental and informational headquarters, the Chico Creek Nature Center. This portion of the park is open to motorized traffic, providing the perfect venue for some of Chico’s unique outdoor cultural events, such as Shakespeare in the Park performances.

14. Money was raised for 9 billboards-3 a month for next 3 months-help is needed for next nine
Edited on Tue Sep-04-07 12:59 AM by fed-up
Hats of to Bob for an excellent design!!

The billboard is located on northbound on Nord Ave just a little past East Ave

The second billboard is located on Lassen just off the Esplanade.

There is also one in Oroville.

Money was raised for 9 billboards-3 a month for the next three months.
Second and third sets will have two in Chico and one In Paradise.

Organizers are hoping to raise additional funds to do another set of billboards in three months with the words IMPEACH NOW w/a medusa like head with pics of Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rove, etc

If you would like to donate please pm me for the address.

15. Question... Does Clear Channel own those billboards?
If not, well good for you all there. But when they have a monopoly of many of the other billboards, it might be a problem for us!

16. I don't thinks so, but I'm sure it is a red company-renters don't get to pick location
and so they get whatever location is "available" at the time.

Sometimes if you book far enough in advance you can pcik the location. This is VERY important to due during election season. We got lucky when we did the Measure D campaign (to try to Stop genetically engineered crops in our county) and got some very good spots because we booked and paid for in advance....

18. Love to do it, but it's illegal in my state.
No billboards in Vermont, and most of the time I love that, but man, that is a thing of beauty.
