Olbermann's Countdown Trounced O' Reilly Thursday |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-03-07 11:02 PM by RamboLiberal
According to numbers posted at TV Newser. In key demo 18-54 Countdown had 318 to O' Reilly's 224. Now don't go celebrating too much - remember Billo was off that week and had substitute hosts. Countdown is always down when KO isn't on. This and the coming weeks will be the real test. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

1. What's that sound I hear? |
|
I think it's the sound of another cap seal on another bottle of Bushmill's being cracked.

2. Wow, Olbermann didn't just beat O'reilly |
|
He was the highest rated show of the entire night. Wasn't O'reilly talking about Olbermann's falling ratings a few months ago? Looks like he got caught lying again. Its just a matter of time before Olbermann starts beating O'reilly in the ratings for good.

4. Actually, lately, Countdown hasn't always been down with KO not on. |
|
It's starting to retain decent ratings even with him on vacation. It used to just go into the toilet without him, but no more.

9. Amy Robach being such a knock-out probably brings in other viewers |
|
Allison Stewart is also attractive, but Robach might be the best looking in cable news.

5. Normally I would say, once Olbermann begins trouncing, imitator-shows will appear |
|
But, since the point of view expressed by Keith is not generally subscribed to by the State-Coerced and -Controlled Amerikan Infoganda Press Corpse, I would expect a "natural" drag on this normal process, or would have been a normal process in Old Free America.
Now I expect Keith to soldier on alone for quite some time, until his ratings skyrocket so highly that something has to give and maybe then an imitator-show or two will spawn, but MSRNC even, will continue with their almost wholly-Bushie Punditocracy, even then.
This I prophesy. I wish I would be wrong about it, and maybe I will be, but the New Totalitarian Amerika is very predictable.
We will see if the old rusty parts of Old Free America, can function well enough to see the spawn of successful imitaror-shows of Keith's, which should naturally happen with his success.
But it won't. Watch.

6. This sounds about right. |
|
We all know how much online noise is required for information to start showing up in the corporate media. . Keith's ascendancy will probably require the same heavy lifting. NOTHING is being wagered on our success by the big money guys...

7. CNN has started up with this young-ish loudmouth - forget his name |
|
but he's on with this segment about people and other assorted stuff. Trying to be quirky and is pathetically forced. My husband and I both looked at each other and said at the same time - "he's trying to be Keith."

8. I mean I was talking more about the format, stories and POVs the MSM is afraid |
|
to touch, appear on Olbermann at a rate I have never seen before.
You see, the issue, as it was with the enemies of other Third World and Totalitarian Dictatorships, is getting information out to the people.
I still belive that there are more decent Americans than Bushies, people that, if they could get their votes counted or their voices heard, would matter. Many simply do not know one-tenth of what is going on, and many still don't give a shit.
My point was, that given the keystone of Bushie policy differs from the Nazis, who tried to ham-fistedly eradicate the truth.
Bushies don't care if the truth gets out, only that too many people don't hear it or believe it if they do hear it.
So, whereas with most TV or news shows, they spawn imitators and sometimes the first couple are successful in their own right.
I am merely asserting that the Double-Standard, the Bushie Tilting of the Playing Field or whatever you want to call it, will exert it's force on the dynamic.
Will it be enough to squelch Keith imitators (not people imitating him, but show formats imitating his)? I don't know, only time will tell.
But one thing I believe is almost certain, it WILL exert a drag on him "catching on" inthe way Limbaugh and Julius Streicher inspired their respective generations to become Haters of the Airwaves.
