People are STILL doing this? Must be some Bush Devotees....
Racist Graffiti Plagues Lawrenceville Neighborhood

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Investigators in Gwinnett County are searching for the vandals responsible for racist graffiti.

The graffiti was found in the Ivey Pointe subdivision in Lawrenceville over the weekend.

People who live there said the racial slurs were aimed at African Americans.

The graffiti was spray-painted on stop signs and fences.

Homeowner Debbie Highland said the vandalism is disturbing.

"I don't know who did it or why they did it, but it's pretty disturbing to me to be quite honest," Highland said.

Racism has no place in this day and age, said homeowner Patrick Kelly.

"I think it's garbage," Kelly said. "These kids that are doing all this need to cut it out. Especially something like that, it's racist, it's 2007."

Police said they have no suspects.

1. Habits die hard... and Lawrenceville, oh boy...

Despite all the growth around it and throughout metro Atlanta, that town seems stuck in the 1900s.

A little anecdote...My parents were living there when they died and I had to call the city utility office from out of state to arrange to keep electricity on in the house until I could settle their affairs. To my shock, who should answer the phone? The Mayor. (Just amusing anecdote to me during an otherwise very sad period..no real point, I guess).

my impression.... Those areas around Atlanta have long harbored a lot of white supremacists-- Klan types. It is such a different world when you get outside the beltway a bit..

3. That happened down the street from me.There are still many ignorant rednecks out there.
An African=American family moved in to our neighborhood. They had a nice boy my son's age, very sweet and shy. They came home to the "N" word painted on their door. They moved out the next day.I am ashamed that I would be lumped into the group that did that.I cried when I saw that, since I have spent my whole life teaching my boys to not see color.

8. I'd have been over there with a can of paint
and a batch of cookies and a lot of reassurance that it was done by stupid children who needed a spanking.

9. It happens in the burbs of KC a couple of times a year
So yeah, it's not only in the south. I don't think politics has asmuch to do with it as ignorance does.

10. Come to Georgia, where many stupid white people live!
Watch as they blame black folks and Mexican immigrants for every problem they can imagine!

There are a lot of great people living here, but there are also a whole lotta folks who continue to nurse a grudge about the Confederates getting their asses kicked.

They are dying out, slowly but surely, but they ain't all dead yet.
