The "WELL DUH!!!!!" statement for today, courtesy of Chris Matthews:
"The last six years have been a powerful bit of evidence that we have to judge candidates for president on their preparation for the office with the same relish that we assess their personalities."

1. Great concept. Despite it being totally obvious, it ain't gonna happen.
Otherwise, people like Fred Thompson would be staying home from the party.

2. What a statement from someone who is obsessed with SAYING inane
things about people. I feel sure that all of them were ordered to do this to deflects from the message of a Dem. He does it on his own because it IS HIM. Trite, shallow, gossipy.

3. BUT, Who Would He Rather Have A Beer With???
And who looks better in a cowboy hat on a Fake ranch?

I still think those are criteria that we need to base our choices on.

Preparation for office, Mr. Matthews? Why would stuff like that be important? Kind of like intelligence and qualifications to host a SPIN show like Softball? Those same qualifications?

4. Remember this is from a man who couldn't stop talking about the way Bush looked in his flight-suit..
and how "manly" Fred Thompsom smells.

GMAFB.

Matthews has been one of the foremost players in the "personality-over-preparation" media wars and we all know it!

F*ck him.

5. From his mouth to his own damn ears
Matthews epitomizes the style over substance tone of the MSM.

I hope he listens to his own damn words.

6. Where was Tweety when Smirky was in his first campaign run?

When Shit-for-brains was asked to name a few world leaders he came up with a goose egg.

7. One thing that discourages me so much is the thought that
the political press that savaged Al Gore is still in place. Tweety may like to throw a little trash at some reporters, but he was in the forefront in trashing Al Gore and either or both Clintons. We as a nation and the world as a whole have discovered what it means to have an imcompetant US President. A great deal of thanks from the enemies of the US should be deposited right on Tweety's doorstep.

8. But, then the GOP field be empty if that were the case
I mean, who on the GOP side is actually as qualified as Gore, Edwards, Clinton, Richardson, Dodd, etc?

I guess you could make an argument for McCain being qualifed, despite his embracing of Bush and the Religious Reich in recent years?

9. Lord help me, I'm overcome by the sheer brilliance of Matthews!
Edited on Tue Sep-04-07 03:20 PM by Uncle Joe
I do hope Matthews doesn't get a nose bleed for cruising at such high altitudes of wisdom and I hope he's payed lots of money for his deep analytical skill and insight.

Of course if you want to be a party pooper, you could say this is so logical as to be elementary, in which case this begs the question, why didn't the wise one tell us this before?
