Al Gore Confirms VP Is Part of Executive Branch
Read his entire statement. I think he really understands what all of us here are feeling.

Run Al, RUN!!!!!!

In June, House investigators learned that Vice President Cheney exempted his office from a presidential executive order, arguing that the Office of the Vice President is not an “entity within the executive branch.” In a recent interview with Harvard’s alumni magazine, former Vice President Al Gore confirmed that the Vice President is indeed part of the executive:

You were often referred to as the most powerful vice president.

GORE: That was before Dick Cheney.

Point taken. Cheney has made the argument that the vice presidency is not part of the executive branch. Is he right?

GORE: (Laughs) Of course the vice presidency is part of the executive branch! But I fear that I’m losing my objectivity where President Bush and Cheney are concerned. Not much surprises me anymore. I have a lot of friends who share the following problem with me: Our sense of outrage is so saturated that when a new outrage occurs, we have to download some existing outrage into an external hard drive in order to make room for a new outrage.

2. Exactly.
Just enough snark to be amusing but still get his point across that Cheney is nothing but a maniac unleashed.

Wonder why this wasn't more widely reported at the time? Hmmmm.

And he was speaking off-the-cuff.

Curses on the mainstream media for pushing the "wooden, humorless" Al Gore image in 2000 election.

and that neither Clinton nor Gore would have allowed John Yoo to serve as their "Chief Legal Counsel ABOVE ALL OTHERS."

Gore was being "politically discreet" in his words...but he said the TRUTH...as usual.

19. Gore at Constitution Hall
Anyone who saw Gore speak at Constitution Hall on MLK Jr Day last year saw what has to be one of the most moving calls to action to defend our Constitution that our country has ever seen.
He clearly understands and can articulate the Constitutional crisis we are having with this administration.
I would love to hear him speak out frequently and loudly on this issue.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if he could do for our Constitution what he did for the environment?

27. This is a very interesting interview

Interview with Al Gore posted at 02138mag.com

A recent poll shows that if you entered the presidential race, you would handily win the New Hampshire primary. Isn’t that tempting?

Sure. But I am old enough and have been a candidate enough times to have a very high level of resistance to temptations of that sort. I trust my instincts, and it doesn’t feel like it’s the right thing for me.

But if you believe global warming is such a crisis, wouldn’t you be more effective within the White House than outside it?

I’m under no illusion that there’s any position in the world as influential as that of president. But it doesn’t feel like the right thing for me to be a candidate at this point. I have had the experience of seeing how necessary it is to have adequate support among the people as a whole for the dramatic policy changes that are needed. It may well be that the best use of whatever skills and talents and experiences that I have gained is to concentrate on creating that sea change in mass opinion about this issue, so that whoever is elected will face a groundswell from the people themselves.

Will you endorse a candidate in the primary?

Odds are that I will.

Who?

I haven’t made that decision yet.

Do you feel some obligation to endorse the wife of your former boss?

Uh … no. I have friendships with her and with the other candidates, and they’re all on equal footing at this point as far as I’m concerned.

29. I hate to say it
But at this point it looks like Al Gore will not enter the race.

He hasn't ruled it out completely, but time is running out.

I'm sure in 100 years from now - he will be remembered as the rightful winner of the 2000 election.

That's assuming human civilisation still exists in 2107.

Al Gore Readying New Environmental Book

By HILLEL ITALIE
The Associated Press
Wednesday, September 5, 2007

NEW YORK -- For those frightened by the tale of global warming in Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," and wondering what can be done, the former vice president has an answer: a sequel.

Gore is working on a new environmental book, "The Path to Survival," that will be released as a paperback original on April 22, 2008, Earth Day. According to publisher Rodale Books, Gore will continue where he left off in "An Inconvenient Truth" and offer "a visionary blueprint for the changes we should make as a world community."

34. I really needed to hear that...
Sometimes I feel so isolated alone--in my utter disgust, contempt and outrage
for these thugs in the White House.

It's validating when Al Gore says that he and "a lot of his friends" share the same outrage.

The thing is...these individual pockets of outrage are festering seperately. People don't
talk about politics as much. The media downplays (and barely discussed) the crimes of these
neocon thugs. So millions of US citizens sit outraged--feeling alone.

However, something big is going to happen to build bridges between all of us and that outrage
will pour out between all of us and turn into hope, determination, justice and a never-ending
desire to stop these bastard thugs in their tracks and turn this country around.

We need a lynchpin to work at the epicenter---helping us all to direct our outrage toward positive
change and a revolution that will bring back democracy.

That lynchpin is Al Gore. He damn well better declare that he's running for President real soon.

We are ready and willing to take up the cause Al. We just need a leader.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
