Bush's remarks in the new book about "replenishing the ol' coffers" are NOT playing well.

It's been the theme of the afternoon/evening on MSNBC. Tweety returned to it more than once -- talking about getting rich off your experience as President, "when there are Gold Star mothers out there." "Making big bucks on a speaking tour, while he sends kids into battle." Even Tucker said what Bush said was "nauseating" -- or along that line. MSNBC sidekick Willie Geist was on it.

Here is the excerpt from the book: "...in an interview with a book author in the Oval Office one day last December, (Bush) daydreamed about the next phase of his life, when his time will be his own.

First, Bush said, 'I'll give some speeches, just to replenish the ol' coffers.' With joint assets that have been estimated at as high as nearly $21 million, Bush added, 'I don't know what my dad gets - it's more than 50-75' thousand dollars a speech, and 'Clinton's making a lot of money.'"

The author of the book told Tweety he was surprised at the answer to his question about what he would do when out of office, when Tweety asked him if he were surprised at Bush's "crassness." Not given to introspection, this was what Bush came up with when he tried it.

1. The FReepers yesterday
were really, really disconcerted by him saying he spent a lot of time crying on God's shoulder.

This interview, which meant to portray him as more human, has made him sound like a greedy wimp. :P

4. And a whiner. He sounds like a fucking whiner.
"There's no crying in presidentin'!" ("There's no crying in baseball." Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own)

3. As dimson loses more and more of his image crew, when
he is actually talking to the real world, the truth will come dribbling out, one stupid, un-massaged, cruel remark after another, the "chosen" will continue to find their assumptions challenged and the word "aghast" will become commonplace.

I am hopeful the nausea that accompanies our national revulsion and shame will help sweep a large part of the organized crime figures out of the government, (sigh) at least for a little while.
