Air America gone from Memphis |
|
I suppose it's a miracle it even came to Memphis to begin with. But now AM 680 has switched to Fox Sports, which I'm sure can be heard on any number of other Memphis stations. This blog has all the information I know about the decision: http://leftwingcracker.blogspot.com/2007/09/rip-air-america-memphis.html

1. I'm surprised it's on anywhere these days |

Mark Green has made it damn near unlistenable. Except for Randi and Rachel, I tune out on weekdays (my station doesn't carry Hartmann and Young Turks is lacking since Ben left. I like Cenk, but he needs a co-host. It seems like he's talking to himself.)
I miss Al. and Seder. Lionel is nauseating beyond words. Schultz (who is non-AAR, but on most outlets) is ill-informed. The nights are boring and will be even worse when that awkward, but well-meaning guy, who hosts Clout takes over. At least we have Ring of Fire-the networks strongest program, bu bring back Sam, Malloy, Liz, Laura and Maron!

I really agree with what you are saying about daytime AAR, but XM in the evening on their AAR 167 station has Thom Hartmann's show at 8 (since they do have Ed Schultz on at noon instead of Thom) and Mike Malloy 10-Midnight. They don't put on the regular AAR evening show until the middle of the night. What a blessing. Cenk needs a real co-host and not just joking around with his in-studio guys. Anyway, XM would help you. I agree it is worse under the Green's leadership.

they carry Ed at noon instead of Thom, but Thom in rerun at 8 pm which is better than no Thom at all. I do stream him some at noon (ET), too. It's not perfect, but better than nothing. After Mike at midnight I switch over to Faux News XM 168 and listen to Alan Colmes' radio show. He drives me crazy on tv and I refuse to watch him with Hannity, but he is back to being a liberal on his radio show even if it is on Fox radio and he does have good guests. A lot of rw wackos call him and I enjoy him telling them off and hanging up on them. So... there is life after AM radio. Love my XM (actually I have 3, 2 in the house and 1 in the car)!

6. Ed and Stephanie are doing quite well. |
|
Like it or not, their shows are entertaining and that is what people want. Keith Olberman knows this and that is why he adds some Celeb gossip and humor to his show. He ranks muchn higher than Tweety's gab-fest and much higher than Glenn Beck's Pro-Republican hatefest against liberals.

8. After 2006 the call went out "shut it down." |

Progresive radio is something that "they" have to kill.
Their lies only work in an "echo chamber."
