In a motel just outside Meridian studying the Gideon (Acts 9:5) .. on my way to Dallas
Like the KJV, the Gideon Bible translation - in Acts 9:5 - has Jesus saying "It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks." Check it out in a Gideon Bible (P. 1139).

Left Greenville, SC at 0700 EDT this AM after about four hours of sleep (Dr. D. was wide awake at 2AM! That kept me up.). Stopped in Atlanta for a meeting with a lawyer. Stressssssssss-fulllllllllll.

Then drove to Griffin. Saw my Mom in the nursing home there. She looked GREAT! But, stressssssssss-fullllllll.

Stopped at Alabama Welcome Center to whizz. Found my stance a little wide at the urinal. Locked heels immediately! That quick action caused me to piss on leg of my shorts. Contortions at hand blow-dryer to get shorts dried were worse than wide stance at urinal. Stresssssss-fulllll!

Passed Trof's ground lovin' whore in Montgomery (the F-84 on static display, along with a RF4C and a F16). Reminded me of Iraq. Stresssssss-fulllllll.

Crossed the Pettus Bridge in Selma for the umpteenth time. I always take Business US-80, through downtown Selma. For the rich civil rights history. Remembered the stresssss-fullllllll 1960s in Selma.

Fueled the Prius in Selma. Not because it needed it, but because I needed it. Calculated fuel consumption almost equaled the computer displayed value of 52.8MPG. No stress there.

Fought sleep through Demopolis, Alabama ("The City of the People" .. I hope!) around 6pm CDT. Pressed on to Meridian, Mississippi. Stressssssss-fullllllll!

Appointments with my B/P specialists in Dallas on Thursday. My stressssss should peg their meters. Know what I mean?

2. Jeebus! The way Johhny Cash enunciates "And it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."!
OMG! I'm an old Cash fan, and I'd never heard that one before. The video blew me away too. The video was 90% on my life. Maybe I'm dying ang I just think I'm on DU. Eh?

BTW: My fundy preacherman BIL was not amused by my bringing up ACTS 9:5 (KJV) a few years back. He preaches from a new, sanitized translation of God's holy, inerrant word.

3. Haven't been in a church in 30 years.
No intentions of going back. I just love Johnny Cash's music and life story, the religeous stuff doesn't matter to me, sort of his thing.

Got more...

Gods gonna cut you down, filmed as a tribute to the man from fellow artists.

6. Acts 8 is a very overlooked chapter
Probably because the second character after the apostle is a eunuch, and that makes folks feel ooshy or something. But it has a terrific message of inclusiveness.

7. I stopped to get gas in Jasper, AL one time...
and I asked the lady behind the counter if they had any maps. She looked at me kind of funny and said "No we don't have any Pabst". Since I have a residual Okie accent I figured it was just lost in translation. :)

My best traveling advice? Stay away from the Gideon Bible and the "biscuits and gravy" at the complimentary breakfast. They're both pretty scary.
