If you are on the "do not call" list |
|
this list expires after five years.
So if you signed up when it started - 2003 - be ready to resign (unless you love all those unsolicited phone calls..)

If you can prove you've registered and they still hound you, you can sue. It's not what I do for a living, but it probably pays better than what I'm doing now! I'm going there (again) now. Thanks LH!:kick:

I have messages all the time that start out "this is not an unsolicited phone call" - which, of course, it is.

8. Depends. If the call comes from a company |
|
with whom "you have done business" like your credit card company or your bank - they are exempt. Same is for non-profit, charities and, yes, your Democratic candidates and elected officials who "just want to update you."
All others should be reported - if you have the stomach to get all the info.

14. There's a guy here in the TC |
|
that has made hundreds of thousands of dollars suing the bastards that trip up. He was going to the U of MN, but found suing dip-shit telemarketers far more lucrative. I forget his name, someone else might know who I'm referring to, but the kid is an inspiration!

16. From the instructions: |
|
STEP THREE: OPEN YOUR EMAIL AND CLICK ON LINK You have submitted your phone number(s) for registration in the National Do Not Call Registry. You will receive an email from Register@donotcall.gov. To complete your registration, you must open the email and click on the link provided.
Important: If you do not click on the link in the email within 72 hours, your phone number will not be registered.
Troubleshooting: If you don't get a "Registration Complete" message after clicking on the link, or the link does not work, use your "cut" and "paste" functions to insert the entire link in the email into the "Address" line on your Web browser. Cut and paste the entire link - it's long. Do not re-type it.
This browser window does not need to remain open to complete the registration process.

It really made a huge difference when I first signed up 5 years ago. I never want to go back to having all those annoying calls again.
