So Many Ron Paul Supporters Calling Into C-Span - Every Day
I watch and listen to Washington Journal most mornings. For months now it has been noticeable how many callers mention their support for Ron Paul. By noticeable I mean that his name is mentioned favorably several times each hour. Considering that Ron Paul is a minor player no matter how you figure the ranking of would be nominees. It makes me wonder just how so many of his supporters happen to get on air when the press would have us believe there are so few of them in the first place.

It has been obvious for years that there are banks of Republican callers all repeating the same messages over and over when they are lucky enough to get through. Do you all think that this Ron Paul fellow also has banks of callers trying to get his name and ideas (or lack thereof) mentioned on air?

1. I quit watching Washington Journal because of them
Ron Paul has built an amazingly active group of supporters. We have quite a few of them in our anti-war group. The majority are 9/11 tin foil hatters.

I greatly admire their enthusiasm and I am in awe of Ron Paul's ability to build this group. They spend money too. We have several new billboards in this town they recently purchased.

I sure wish Ron Paul would come around on choice. That is a BIG issue for me. Yes, the war is my number one issue but I truly fear what kind of government we will have when the war is over if Ron Paul is elected.

I am also curious - will these Ron Paul folks feel disenfranchised when he doesn't get the nomination? Will he run as a libertarian?

2. I think that's what they mean when they say....
"A vocal minority".

3. Ron Paul seems to be popular among disillusioned Repubs
And there must be loads of them. I don't think the guy has enough money to have banks of callers. The typical Ron Paul supportor in my observation though is an under-employed working class white male between 20 and 45.

Maybe there are a lot of them who are unemployed and have time to call Washington Journal.

4. I'm afraid Ron Paul appeals to the ignorant who love voting against
their own best interests. His small government mantra includes erasing the slate of social services. Add that to the anti-abortion stance and you end up with a nation filled with unwanted, hungry children. These dimwits are incapabable of making the connection between taxation and money needed to run the country. I guess they figure whatever we need will come from the heavens on a flaming pie.

7. Ron Paul is a growing favorite in Texas among people who should vote Democratic

But they're just too blind or bigoted, or perhaps they're just too lazy to actually look into his platform beyond the antiwar stance.

Even some former Clinton supporters (Bill, from back then) among the masses have their Ron Paul signs in their yards.

If nothing else I have to admit these people are vocal. Their members of civic organizations and clubs such as the gardening and Lions Club, and they're our local gossips who tend to hang out in the coffee shop in the morning before work.

When you leave the working class behind and drive into the wealthy neighborhoods there's not a sign one for Ron Paul.
