'Adam and Steve' consultant dies in murder-suicide

A Republican political consultant who had a hand in an infamous "Adam and Steve" flier that agitated a local legislative race has died in an apparent double murder-suicide in Orlando, Fla.

Ralph Gonzalez, 36, president of the Strategum Group, was found dead at his Orlando home last Thursday, Aug. 23 along with his roommate, David Abrami, 36, and a friend, Robert Drake, 30. The shooting happened two days before on Aug. 21.

Police say Gonzalez and Abrami were killed by Drake, a former U.S. Marine, who then turned the gun on himself. Police said they did not know what the motive might have been.

Gonzalez, an attorney, worked in several Alabama campaigns, including Attorney General Troy King's winning race and State Sen. Scott Beason's successful GOP race.

To be accurate, Abrami's girlfriend says that he was not gay.

But yeah, this story is very strange:

A website owner/content producer/escort service fellow named Kocis is found stabbed to death in his home in Pennsylvania. Rival website owner/content producer/escort service owners Cuadra and Kerekes are arrested and charged with his murder. The motive being the two wanted to lure away popular model Corrigan from Kocis.

Fast forward, Gonzales and Abrami are found murdered in their Florida home, apparently at the hands of Drake who commits suicide after murdering the two men. The motive appears to be that Drake was a friend (lover?) of Cuadra and was trying to extort money from Gonzales and Abrami for Cuadra's defense.

Unsubstantiated rumours abound. Gonzales is definitely a GOP operative and has worked with congressman Patrick McHenry. Some claim Gonzales was also a former lover of Ralph Reed. Supposedly Drake knew McHenry as well. Much specualtion about McHenry's wealth and real estate. There's even a Tom Feeny connection as Gonzales built websites to slam Feeny's opponent Clint Curtis duing 2006 elections. Abrami is known for having organized a YR event, a gun shoot with a picture of Bill Clinton as the target....

Quite a maze of stuff.

Also, the new issue of Rolling Stone will contain an article covering the Kocis murder. Hits the stands this friday.

With such a juicy storyline, a lot of money must have been spread around, or a lot of arms were twisted to stop the reporting on this.
