How are we in Congress doing so far ? |
|
My apologies for having to ask. It appears from my cursory knowledge that we are holding our own. Am I too rose-colored here ?

are involved in a quagmire in Iraq, have lost Afghanistan to the poppy dealers, are set to appoint Negroponte as Deputy Secretary of State and will quite possibly allow Bush to cut programs and services for kids and the elderly while keeping his tax cuts for the rich. I'd say your glasses have a bit of a tint. ;-)

2. The Repubs pretty much torpedoed the debate on Iraq. |
|
They are not afraid to filibuster everything under the sun.

3. The pukes like to call the Dems "obstructionists" but they are now blocking |

the Iraq debate. They are the true obstructionists.
And there's not much the Dems can do at this point. I hope the House vote is successful.

4. Good start with the Pelosi ethics bill; Senate flops by failing to have Iraq debate |
|
SENATE
Webb is outstanding and a rising star. Actually raises Democratic theme not heard for years. Thank you Senator.
Obama has not hugged Lieberman lately, at least for the photographers, which is a sign of political growth and he's hauling ass as a candidate for Prexy, very impressive there.
Reid can't get tough, still a minority leader, sadly. Failure to get Iraq bill to floor for debate is truly sad. I feel sorry for the guy. What a bunch of prima donas he must have behind him.
Senate Chairmen are gearing up.
HOUSE
Pelosi's ethics bill can't be underestimated. She should get out there and brag, at every opportunity.
"We now have a policy of no gifts from lobbyists and the House is back to working five days a week," the Speaker said as she introduced the new House Chaplain.
Conyers and Waxman waste no time hitting the ground, tough, seasoned, tenacious and pay back time.
Twilight Zone: House Democrats have several bills on election systems, all of which promote computerized voting. Liberal groups, Common Cause and People for the American Way are lobbying hard for voting machines. Am I missing something;) Very strange.
