_snip for a bunch of good 'ol boy crap-

I for one find it sad that the very party which claims to be made up of real Americans is now saturated with professional politicians and self-servers who are so out of touch with the people who made this country strong … or wait! Maybe they scheduled this Straw Poll for the Presidential candidacy based on the premise that the good ol’ boys like me would ignore the event in favor of “opening day,” and thus limit our input into the outcome of their strategically planned Straw Poll vote!
Oh, who knows, and it probably won’t matter much anyway, the politicians, from local to state to federal, pretty much do as they may these days, ’cause we the people don’t seem to have the fortitude anymore to stand up to them and shut them down when they mis-represent us.
...

This isn’t the Texas I know and love anymore, and the Republican Party it seems, has forsaken me. For that matter, I guess it may not be my United States anymore … it now belongs to others.

David C. Hunnicutt

These are the folks who become Ron Paul voters,DU.

2. No joke on the Ron Paul comment...
I wonder if he actually happened to be sincere and actually got the nomination if it would push the American political compass back to a realligned center instead of "shades of right".

5. Nothing about the GOP has changed. Their problems come from their success.
The Republicans have gotten every single thing they wanted ever since the "Contract on America.' War, taxes, impeachment, radical appointees -- you name it.

But today they are unhappy.

That's because Republicans getting their own way does nothing to improve life for anyone in America. You'd think they'd see that, after winning issue after issue, election after election by hook or crook during the last several decades.

But no. Conservatives cannot admit to making mistakes -- any mistakes. Thus, as things continue to go down the toilet, the only thing they know how to do is point fingers and blame others. These days -- because the GOP has been in full control a long time -- they have no choice but to throw some of the blame at other Republicans. But what these angry conservatives never seem to realize is that it is THEY who are wrong. Their desires are wrong. Their methods are wrong. Their hearts are wrong. That's why things continue to go to shit for conservatives even though they continue to get everything they want.

Simply said, what conservatives want are shitty things that never work out for anybody.

Not even them.

6. You got it!
It falls in the category of "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it." They wished for total political dominance, and they got it, for 6 years or so. And we see the results -- they haven't made anyone happy.

I'd laugh, except for all of the damage these assholes have done.
